DCK, it's amazing how many calories/fat grams there are in many of our favorite restaurant foods. I've looked up nutrition information for a bunch of stuff too, and been absolutely shocked by it.
You think that's bad - go look up the new burrito thing - over a thousand calories!!!
From McD's, I think the best choices are a egg mcmuffin w/o the cheese (and no butter on the english muffin) and a parfait.
I used to stop mornings for breakfast at a local deli and get a bacon and egg or a porkroll and egg sandwich on a roll. Not worth it!
My new substitutions:
Thomas' lite english muffin with eggwhites or eggbeaters; slice of FF American cheese and either canadian bacon, or 2 slices crisp-cooked turkey bacon.

I decided to have fruit and a granola bar for breakfast, which was a good idea because I ended up going out for lunch today. Pizza. I think I overate- my tummy hurts. Amazingly I have not blown the diet for today, but dinner's going to have to be small. If I can even eat it. Oh my tummy.
I have gotten used to not eating large meals!!!! Ow.

Are any of you ladies actually on the Weight Watchers plan. I lost 45 lbs on my own in the past year (with the help of a protein shake program), but since the weather turned cold and we haven't been able to do our morning walk, I've gained 10 back. Have really been struggling with my eating lately. I did WW about 15 years ago and I just got tired of all the measuring and weighing and keeping track. Maybe I'm just getting bored with the whole thing. I try very hard to make good choices (with the exception of the past 2 weeks). I don't know if I'm in "diet burnout" or what. I just cannot get back in the groove. I need to lose another 30 (plus the 10 lbs I gained back). My goal is a tummy tuck to get my pre-baby belly back. Just having a very hard time staying motivated. 7 months ago I would look at food and feel no desire whatsoever to taste it. Now, I find myself thinking about food all day.
Wow...I started rambling there...sorry. The reason for my question about WW is I'm wondering if joining again will give me the kick I need to get myself back in gear. Any suggestions.
I'm not going to let this define me anymore. He's gone and I couldn't be happier.

brohl, I'm following WW. It does get a little tiring weighing and measuring, but I find that I don't have to do as much of it as I thought I would. I figure, I measure when making a recipe anyway so it's not much more than that.
If you don't like the weighing and counting you could try the Core program? I follow much of the core food list anyway, but I like the flexibility of the points one.
For me, what helps is that I try and stay focused on the fact that I'm changing my eating patterns for a lifetime, not just a weightloss diet. I need to be healthy and if I don't make some permanent changes I'll have chronic illness and heart problems. It was just time.
Don't give up brohl, you can do this!

I didn't like WW, the women at the meeting I tried out were really catty and snobbish so I never went back. I did the diet for a while, but that was years ago.
I am on sparkpeople now and I love it, but I think part of it is that I am really ready to do the work this time.

I'm new to SI. Just found out less than 2 wks ago. Have lost 10 lbs since. Have plenty of more to lose. WH says I don't have to lose weight. he has no idea that I HAVE TO DO THIS. I will not be the BS, bitter, fat, oh how she let herself go! I'm doing this for me, because I have to start taking care of myself and that means a healthy body image. he can go to hell if that's the way it works out and I'll be in a much better place. I'm not so down with the excercise, but that will come with time. Last night I went through my wardrobe and got rid of clothes that were tool old, didn't fit, didn't look good. I'm almost down to a dozen outfits suitable for work. i'll rebuild my wardrobe as I rebuild my body as I rebuild my life. If it works out so WH is along for the ride, that would be nice. If not. I WILL SURVIVE.

Borderline- in the 2 months leading up to d-day I had lost 20 pounds on South Beach. I was looking and feeling so good (and my XH was digging all the steak dinners). But then d-day hit and I was way too distracted to concentrate on any kind of diet. Good for you for even being able to think about it righ now. You will get through this. *hugs*

Leg day today at the gym!
It's raining kind of hard here, so I'm dropping the baby off at my mom's, and Bob (my dog) and I are going for a trail run.

loving, don't get discouraged. I spent weeks losing and gaining the same 4 pounds, but I'm down 16 pounds now. It may just take a while for your metabolism to straighten out. Are you eating all your points? You have to eat or you won't lose. If you eat too little your body goes into starvation mode and slows down your metabolism so it's counterproductive. Drink lots of water, eat high fiber and stick with it. You'll see those numbers turn around soon.

borderline, welcome. Losing weight is a great way to start feeling better about yourself.
broken, thank you for the encouragement. I've been shying away from this thread because I was ashamed of myself, but I was wrong. I need to use it as a source of inspiration.
Does anyone watch The Biggest Loser? I really like that show. Last night they did makeovers and the transformations were remarkable.

I really thought last nights 'Biggest Loser' makeover episode last night was awesome! The difference in all of them was great. Some of those folks have lost whole people. They are definitely an inspiration.
On my weight loss front, I just gained 2 pounds during our spring break. Which really isn't bad seeing we were away and not cooking for the whole week.
Back to the hard work now though...

BROKEN: You have to eat ALL your points. I am allowed 27 points per day. Yesterday I only ate 24. I have a meeting this Sat, so I can ask then too.

Just a point about weigh-ins. Don't step on the scale every day. For one thing, it's way more fun to only do it every couple of days and see the number keep dropping.
Also try to do your weigh-ins at the same time every night as your weigth can fluctuate by a couple of pouds throughout the day.
I do my weigh-ins in the mornings.
I'm up to ten pounds lost today. Halfway to my first plateau. I always plateau at 20 pounds- it's generally when I quit whatever plan I am on.

YEs, I would love some support! I am following the weight watchers plan, more to maintain at this point and not gain weight. (I recently quit smoking - whoohoo! But, I am scared to death i will gain weight. Thanks to the infidelity diet, I lost the 40 lbs. of baby weight I was still carrying and now I just want to maintain. Also trying to implement an exercise regime - any advice?

Welcome, Faithful!
My advice would be to start a strength program right away. Don't be afraid of too heavy. If you can lift a weight for 8-12 reps, it's not too heavy. We should be worrried about not having enough muscle, rather than too much.
As for the best cardio? Whatever you like and will be likely to stick to is the best. I like doing mine outdoors with my dog.
My daughter loves when I go to the gym because she loves the playroom and interacting with other toddlers her age.

Argggh....I've been totally diligent in my diet/exercise regimen and my weight has been up 2-2.5 lbs for the past two to three days. I've done nothing different and I'm up. I did this for some reason last month too so maybe it's cyclic. Who knows....I'll stay on task and see if I get a big loss when my body decides it's going the wrong way on the scales.
I'm going with I'm healthier....not thinner....right now to keep me on task.
Anyway...that's how I've been doing. Still working out hard and following the plan. I'll keep going one day at a time.
