I really like the site, it's well done for a freebie. There are lots of resources there, recipes, workouts and ways to track all of your food and exercise.

Curious - what does it cost to join WW? Hopefully a lot less than Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig!

I had a great dinner tonight!
WalMart has some low carb wraps and I got some whole wheat ones and drizzled olive oil on them and sprinkled them with parm cheese.
I heated them in the oven and when they were toasty and the cheese was bubbly I put on some canned chicken breast with some tomato and avacado and lettuce and a sprinkle of Mrs. Dash...
Rolled it like a burrito and mmmm mmmm!

I don't pay much attention to how much WW costs any more, but I am quite sure it is less than Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem.
I love that WW is free when you are a life member within two pounds of your goal.

WW has a monthly pass that entitles you to unlimited meetings and the use of the website which includes daily tracking, receipes, discussion boards. Their website is awesome. The cost is $40 a month.
On a more personal note, I had my weigh in and I am down 6.5 pounds this week. Yeah!!!!

It's weigh-in day for me, my first official one. I started last Wednesday (I think it was), so this weigh in is going to look a little strange, numberwise.
I've lost 6 lbs this week! That's 9.5 lbs. since I started!
Can I just dance around now? Not naked, not yet, but oh wow I'm psyched. The website just chastised me for losing more than two lbs a week.
Hello? Some of us gain and lose it much faster, and believe me I'll plateau at some point and lose only 1 or 1/2 lb a week for a few weeks.
It's recommending I swap activity points for food, and also that I use up my weekly allowance of extra points. Uh, I can't. I've literally been stuck trying to eat rather healthy foods just to use up the points I normally have. I've been having two beers a night, on some occasions. I'd have to be scarfing down a chocolate cake in order to use them all. And I just don't want to go down that path, y'know?
And, oh, about the activity points? BWAH! I haven't been working out. Just calculating when I've been doing housework or romping in the yard with the kids.
I'm still a heifer, but I'm a jazzed heifer at the moment.

Excellent job everyone!!!!!!!
I am walking like a madwoman and eating very healthy. Like others... I can't believe how much food I can actually eat if I make the right choices. After dinner I was still too low on calories last night. And I am eating better than I ever did. That's why I refuse to call this a diet.
I won't be weighing in until next Wednesday so no results yet.
However with all the walking I am sleeping like a baby at night. Usually I have a hard time sleeping so that's a huge bonus!
Thanks for the motivation ladies!

Meta, I do love exercise simply because of the sleep benefits! After Hedgehog was born, we'd put her in a backpack and load up Birdie Sue and hit the trails. I would sleep so heavily that night Mr. Threnody had to get up to do the middle of the night feedings!
Even my MommySense didn't kick in enough to wake me up. Getting into a normal, regular exercise routine can be really tough some days. Good for you for sticking with it. In time it'll feel weird *not* to go and you'll be antsy until you do.
NA, maybe next week you can beat him. Lace his food with Crisco or something.
Good luck, bigsigh. Keep at it, no matter what the scale says. If you're working out or even just walking, you'll sometimes swap fat for muscle. The scale isn't the be-all and end-all of progress markers.

I need to do this! I want to lose 20. I've been debating about the online or the meetings. Meetings force me to do it more, but it's expensive and hard to find time.
Online is 65 for 3 months & I get a $10 discount thru my health insurance (Oxford) so it's $55.00.

I'm just weighing in.
Today was my official weigh in day, and I lost 1.4 pounds in the first week.
Starting Weight: 155.2
Current Weight: 153.8
10%: 139.6
Personal Goal: 125
I've been pretty good point wise, and have added exercise. I'm running on the treadmill about 30 minutes a day. I'm trying to run a little longer, but I don't want to overdue it first starting out.
All of your are such a motivator for me. WTG!!!

I am thinking of getting a personal trainer to outline a fitness plan for me and keep me accountable.
I've only got 5 moths to get in the best shape I can. Anyone ever used one?

Today for lunch and snacks at work I brought fresh cut veggies with some lite dip and two lowcarb torillas with some low fat shredded cheese to melt on them.
It sounds good to me...

Meta-have never used a personal trainer, but if you can than I would. Not only can they help you plan a fitness routine but also make sure you are doing exercises correctly. I'm always worried I'm not getting the most of my workouts because I'm doing them incorrectly. KWIM?
If you go with one let us know how it works out.

Ok, I'm jumping on this bandwagon. I just joined sparkpeople.com ~ it looks like it has some great tools. I printed out the exercise demo and will be doing those at home tonight. Right now my calorie count is on track for today ~ in fact, I think I'll be under my calories for today by quite a bit ~ unless I manage to eat 800 calories between now and bedtime. Considering I've only had about 700 calories between breakfast, lunch and two snacks (none of which were overly healthy) I think I'll be ok.
According to their website, if I lose 2 pounds a week, I'll be well past my goal weight by the end of April. Crazy!
I REALLY want to get this weight off so I'm hoping this will be the motivation I need. My stats are:
Height - 5'6"
Present weight - 172
Ideal weight - 130-144
Goal for 2008 - 150
I really need someone to help me stay accountable ~ both with my food intake and exercise. Any takers? :) :)
