good morning all!
SW, good idea about the pilates video. Is it part of that 10 minute series?
I'm sorely in need of stretching and toning. And stregth training. And heck, more cardio.
Aside from the exercise, one of the toughest things for me is to get more "healthy oils." My last set of bloodwork would have been better if I'd upped the MUFAs and Omega 3s. I don't really like salmon though, but I'm trying to eat some every week.
On a day to day basis though, the oil is hard to get in. Weird, because I used to have olive oil almost every day before starting this. I'm still readjusting my menus.
Hope everyone is okay today.

Amazon.com is good for workout DVD shopping. You can read reviews from other shoppers on what you are buying. And often you can buy package deals or used DVDs for cheap.

It is a part of the ten minute series. That's actually what I like about it too....ten minutes on any area or ten on each area. Whatever you can muster you can do. Was I graceful when I did it? Heck no but I was able to do the exercises so that's what counted.
I'm so happy today....the sun is FINALLY shining here and it's a beautiful day. It's windy but it's beautiful and supposed to be cold this weekend. I'm opening all my windows and letting that fresh air and sunshine in today !!!!!!!
Can you tell I've got spring fever yet? lol
I met with a friend yesterday for lunch that I haven't seen for a long while. He's moving so we plan to have lunch again before he moves to another state. I told him next time he sees me I hope to be ten to fifteen pounds lighter. He smiled and told me I'd melt away with that and he didn't see an ounce that I need to lose.
Sure made me happy to be seen as fit again !!!!

Hey all! Just checking in. I've been on the Gulf Coast of FL. Pretty, pretty nice. I'll be moving there soon. Warmer weather=less clothes=more skin showing. That will motivate me to stay in shape year round.
Bob the Wonder Dog and I had to run early or else it would be too hot. I also went water skiing and parasailing. and nightly sunset beach walks. I'll be living 1/2 mile from the beach. I't wierd seeing beach sunsets when I'm so used to beach sunrises.
Treasure Island is a very fit town.

Will have to look for the vid next time I shop. Thanks for the heads up. Right now its light weights so I dont get saggy and bike for about 1/2 hr 5days a week.

Would someone like to tell my body to behave? lol
I am good for the last week and my weight was up. I go out to eat last night and decide to go off plan for just one night and I wake up this morning and I'm down 3 lbs. Go figure......lol.
I still had the bank and 21 points left so I don't think I fell totally off plan but geesh....I'm down when I'm not good? lol

Someone once told me that sometimes your body needs extra fuel to burn extra fat. Could be that because of the illness and dieting/excersize you were at a low point in your basil metabolic rate. The small increase in intake probably jumpstarted the process.
Although I keep a firm hand on my points I do make it a point to have a few splurge days interspread throught the week to make sure I don't end up in starvation mode and start stockpiling calories as fat.
Just a thought,

Thank you....I laughed when I got on the scale that morning and it's actually okay today too. Normally I have an increase when I splurge on something totally fattening like that.
I do eat for sure...I eat all my points and I work out. I do think the body likes a little shake up once in a while in it's metabolism. Now, should I decide I want that pasta once in a while, I'll probably GAIN five pounds next time....lol.
I'm just glad I'm still on track. I will confess, I'm struggling with motivation to get working out again. I know long breaks are tough to keep you going but I just didn't have the energy and now I'm struggling with motivation. I'll do it though....I need to for me, I need to so I can continue my journey.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
One change I did make when I went to eat the other night...I ordered the small order and I always ordered the large one before. I only ate one piece of bread and I held on the salad (Pasta House). I cut out a lot that I wouldn't have prior to this journey but I sure did enjoy that linguini in white clam sauce....lol.

I have not gone through all the pages of this thread yet but what I have read inspired me to look up a local ww's meeting and it will be my 1st on Monday night.
I also have a friends week one booklet I have read cover to cover a few times. I have chosen the core plan and already started following it as of today.
Last night my 9 year old out of the blue said "mom I have a picture of you-skinny in my head". I don't know if he saw the ww booklet or what but I like the picture he has in his head for me
Now if only he will agree to switch to fat free milk LOL.
On I think it's page 65 where you "imagine" your success, my first thought of where I am is walking into OW work and having it not know it's me. I might have to do some reprogramming on that one!
I have a new home gym and have been using it. I am wondering what are the activity points that I can earn? I know I should wait to ask but for the 1st time in a good while I am excited about something! So what kind of points can I earn with exercise?

Disenchanted, you are so right about visualization! It feels a little new-agey at first, but for me it really helps. I have a little trick, it sounds kinda stupid, but it's really helped me with sticking to my eating plan.
I get really bored with grilled chicken breasts, egg whites, steamed brown rice, steamed veggies...you get the picture. When I begin to eat these boring meals, I visualize all the nutrients, vitamins, and muscle-repairing protein going straight to my cells. It's especially effective after an ass-kicking weight workout. Try it!

Good morning everyone, hope the weekends went well!
Annbenn, it sounds like the trip went well? Glad to hear it.
I went to a softball tourney and ate junk, and then came home and stress-ate because my parents were at my house... NOT a good day for me. Calorie-wise it wasn't huge, but between the whopper jr, the onion rings that I split with DD, and the half slice of pizza, it was a day full of sat fat and not much healthy food.
*sigh* Back on track this morning.
Today is a new day to start fresh and stay focused.

I didn't count any calories this weekend, but I didn't overeat, either so it's all good.
Plus I had a very physically active (almost demanding) weekend. Saturday I went with the hippies and picked up garbage for a couple of hours and then later in the day I helped a friend move. Into her 2nd floor apartment. Then yesterday I decided to make my Target run on foot since it's only 2 miles away and it was a super nice day out.
My knee is kind of angry at me today. I think maybe I need better shoes.

Good shoes are key. Also, you will find that your knee can take more as your quads get stronger and you get lighter.
I was in a baaaad accident in '02. I broke my femur and now have a titanium rod in there. Instead of doing the physical therapy, I took the easy way out and just self-medicated with oxycontin.
I didn't have too much trouble, 'cause I've pretty kept my weight around 100 lbs. or so. But when I got pregnant and gained 65 lbs.
my knee really started acting up. It feels so much better now, no matter how much activity I do, because I'm stronger, and there's 65 lbs. less of me it has to support.

I have a lot of past injuries I'm dealing with, they have been a huge deterrent to working out until the last couple of months. I broke my ankle 3 years ago, I screwed up my back in a fall 2.5 years ago, and I also have chronic bursitis in my hips. Once I got past the first 2 weeks the back and hip pain actually started to go away.
I'm all out of sorts today, though. My body hurts and I'm tired and crabby. I do NOT want to work out. But I am going to anyway. Today I was planning on starting a strength training routine. I am not putting it off!

Did my strength training over my lunch hour. I'm feeling a bit less sore. Though I imagine tomorrow I'll be feeling differently.
I think I am going to like this. The last 6 weeks or so I have been doing cardio on lunch and after work M/W/F. I decided that starting this week I would swap out one cardio session for some strength training. Kinda works out good because I didn't really like doing cardio at lunch and then going back to my desk all sweaty with my hair ruined.

I don't know about proud of myself. I guess I'm just pleased. Pleased that I'm actually enjoying all this working out. I've never enjoyed it in the past. It always felt like such a chore, and I would get frustrated over how hard I had to work in order to lose weight. And while I suppose I'd like to see the pounds melting off a bit quicker, I know I'm finally losing weight in a healthy way and it's going to STAY GONE this time.
