hey all!

Today is my first weigh in day and I can't wait to see if I dropped anything. Even if its just a pound I will be happy. If I didn't then, that's ok too, because I decided that I am going to do this slow. I put a goal on sparklepeople.com to lose 50lbs by Dec 1, but if I don't that's ok too. I just am glad to start eating so much more healthier. I think my body said IT WAS TIME. I have been eating junk for so long that I was tired of it. Feels good to munch on a carrot! And eat an apple!

Kuddos to eveyone here!

I ate two chocolates yesterday because I was feeling tired and PMSy. But at least I didn't eat the whole box and that's a step.

Congrats on joining the WW crew click4it.

I have my weigh in tomorrow but am not feeling good about it, think I've hit my first plateau. I guess I will just have to ramp things up a bit to break past it.

I really wanted to have potato chips for dinner tonight.

I had a healthy dinner instead (pasta with tomato sauce and meatless meatballs), but I still want potato chips.

I haven't had an annoying food craving in a while so I guess I am due.

click4it,

I have lost 22lbs in 7 weeks.

Today is my weigh in but I weigh myself a couple of times during the week at home. I know that's a bad thing but I am very competative, even with my self.

I am at 235 and am really pushing for 'my' first goal of 220. My Weight watchers first goal was/is 234 so I am basically there. I set 220 as my first 'me' goal because for the longest time I never gained weight above that. After I hit 220 I will have short term goals of 20lbs until I like how I look.

Basic plan for WW is depending on your height and age, you are allowed to eat a certain number of points in a day. You also have a bank of 35 extra points that you can spread out over the week or splurge on the weekend at a restaurant....that's how I typically do mine. You gain extra points for activity, if I'm remembering you can earn up to 3 extra points for vigorous workouts in a day but I'll double check that number. There are a bunch of zero and low point foods so if you blow it in a day, you don't have to starve, you just have to rethink your intake for the rest of the day.

It's a very sensible way to eat, very easy to track and if you follow it, it works very well and is a way of life. You can still eat out, you can still eat your own foods. You just have to learn portions and point values of foods. It's just a way of going healthy and doing it with the foods YOU like, not what's picked for you.

Keep up the good work everyone. I weigh in on Thursday. I'm down one pound. I've slowed down greatly because I'm only ten pounds from my goal. I'm down 38 lbs thus far and tickled pink about it.

Have a good day and I'll check in later ......

TIS, WW gives you "points" instead of counting calories. A certain serving size of a food is assigned a point value, and for foods not listed you get a slide rule thing that calculates the point value based on the calories, fat and fiber. It sounds more complicated than it is. Then WW has 8 "healthy guidelines" that you have to follow - a certain number of dairy servings, whole grains, fruits & veggies and healthy oils.

A bunch of people here are following a calorie counting diet on sparkpeople.com. They have guidelines but it's more flexible.

wow, that's great CapN.

I weighed myself last night and I only lost 1lb in one week. I haven't eaten any fast food, and have cut down on my portions, but I haven't exercised that much. I guess that's why. I'm trying not to be discouraged.

My butt has been dragging. I was sick for ten days so I didn't work out. I have told myself I'm going to resume but I always drag my feet and then don't do it. I reserved it for tonight and I'm going back. I'm down 38 lbs so far and have to finish this and I need to keep up the exercise for my health.

Somebody kick my butt out the door tonight and every other night to get me moving again.....

I've still been following program, just ditching the exercise but I AM going to do this tonight !!!

Drum roll please...

I weighed in at ... 232 ... today. I actually lost 3 lbs. I was sure I had hit a plateau. The scale at home may not be calibrated correctly. I did a 20 minute bike this morning and a 40 minute walk at lunch to keep things moving along.

I gave into my craving for potato chips, but I only bought a snack-sized bag so I didn't blow my calories for today.

And you know what? Potato chips can be very satisfying even if you don't eat a whole huge bag of them.

I wonder if sometimes it's not the food I miss but the mindlessly eating large amounts of it.

I don't graze anymore. Everything is measured.

I did it !!! I went back to the elliptical and burned 326 last night.....

I'm feeling better about being back on track and scheduled another reservation for 6:30pm tonight.

I'm just feeling totally overwhelmed right now. I have got so much stuff I need to do and my H works so much and I have a job working 20-25 or more hours a week. I do EVERYTHING from paying bills, grocery shopping, running kids, cleaning house, cooking and laundry, commit to visiting and helping care for my 98 year old Great Aunt. I'm slowing getting behind on everything and just barely holding on. I was sick for those ten days so I just got behind.

I think I just need a vacation. I've got to have a day off to wrap into a weekend to just call my own !!!! I need some catch up time.

A bad couple of days, eating wise. No binges, just nibbling what I shouldn't. And the thing that really sucks was that it was nothing good (worth it, I mean.) Finishing the baby's PB&J off her highchair, finishing off her bowl of pasta and sausage. Stole of couple of her fruit snacks (talk about gross!!!) She better hold on tight to her sippy cup or I'll be snatching that from her next...

Sigh... this is when it's sometimes hard. I went to a supermarket/deli to grab lunch. It's a popular lunch spot. They have a salad bar and many take-out selections- everything from sushi to fried chicken. As I wandered around and looked at stuff, the only things that looked appealing were the fattening ones. Macaroni and cheese, wild rice soup, sesame chicken and egg rolls. But I don't know what my evening plans are so I had resolved I was going to have a light lunch in case I end up socializing tonight (friend broke up with BF- drinks and/or ice cream may be called for if she's up for company later)

So I ended up hitting the salad bar. Now the way I do the salad bar is I pile up my bowl full of chopped veggies- cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, and fresh fruit if they have it. Makes the salad a little more pricey, but I end up using less dressing. I got a tiny cup of it that I didn't even finish because I only dipped the bell peppers in the dressing (they were not great peppers). The rest of the veggies were tasty on their own.

So on one hand I'm like yay me for eating a very healthy lunch. But on the other hand I can't say I enjoyed eating a pile o veggies half as much as I would have enjoyed some wild rice soup.

Oh well, it will be well worth it later if I end up on BFF duty and want to have an appletini or something else decadent.
