Hi everybody,

I've been following this thread since day 1. I didn't join in in the beginning b/c I'm not doing WW, and that was the topic of the thread.

But I've been encouraged by your triumphs and by the honesty when you've had a bad day (or four).

But I'd like to say, I've lost 18 lbs since Jan 14th. I've not done any one plan. I've basically cut out most (not ALL) junk food, I drink AT LEAST 10 eight oz glasses of water a day, (usually more, only because I love water!) and I've become aware of 'portion distortion'. I'd seen an ad for Sparkpeople several months ago and checked them out, but all that measuring and weighing just isn't for me.

But the single most beneficial thing I've done is I've started moving. I discovered Leslie Sansone's 'Walk At Home' program and I'm hooked!!! I walk anywhere from 3 - 8 miles a day (most days) in the comfort of my home and I love it!

Thank you so much to everyone who is willing to open up about their triumphs and their trials. I have a feeling I'm not the only 'lurker' who is/has been encouraged by this thread.

Imokay- I am on Sparkpeople. But I think I needed to do the weighing and measuring just to get into my head how much I was eating in the first place. I had already been cutting out junk food and sodas and was not seeing any results. The structure is doing me good for a start, but I don't see myself counting calories indefinitely. That is fab that you have lost 18 pounds just making a few changes!

I've only lost 15 pounds since the beginning of March. But thanks to all the working out, I've already dropped 2 clothing sizes. Whenever I get dressed I can't believe how much my body has changed already. I may not see myself counting calories forever, but excercise is going to continue to be part of my life!

I took off 10-12 pounds the beginning of the year and then haven't done a single thing since. Is it too late to join in here?

Never too late.

I think we are all hoping for a lifestyle change. So whether you do WW or sparkpeople or some other healthy alternative, it just does not matter.

I lost the first two months of the year (not via WW) and then went on a hold pattern for the next 6 weeks. But I've now committed to a lifestyle using WW and I'm already seeing results.

So come on in and let's share.

Speaking of share - anyone got some good recipes???

My belly is flat. I put my navel ring back in. My shoulder muscles are popping out. I can wear a bikini again.

Life is good. I may go off-plan and celebrate with a drink tonight.

I may even post some before and after pics soon.

Wow, I don't think I know what it's like to have a flat belly. Even when I was thin I had a little pudge. Of course I have not been thin since I was a kid!

When I was growing up I never drank water. We had nasty city water so it was always pop and cool aid. I was slightly lactose intollerent so no milk either.

As I grew up I only drank bottled water on long days in the sun doing construction, and I would still have at least 2 bottles of pepsi every day.

Now I am a water freak. I haven't had more than 4 oz of pop in 6 weeks. Even though I am on the points giving up the pop has really pushed my weight loss. I am now down 25 lbs in 10 weeks.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Wow! I go away for a day and here are all these new (or newly back) SIers.

Yay! Welcome and welcome back. Everyone is doing great. Even if you haven't lost as much as you've wanted, or moved as much as you've wanted, you're still doing this which is what matters most.

So update on my gallbladder drama. Turns out my gallbladder is fine. My doc had been pretty convinved, but the ultrasound shows nuthin! And I've been feeling better this week. I probably just had a combo stomach bug and strained ligament.

So one more day off and I can start exercising again. And yay - I don't need surgery (although I was kinda looking forward to a few weeks off work!)

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow. (Computer crackdown and work and I can only post at night now.)

Last week was my first week back on and I only lost 1 pound, so I was sad.

But a pound here and a pound there adds up. If you lost a pound a week for a year, you would be at your goal.

I know they tell us it takes time and we want all the weight off yesterday

But I feel like the purpose of this thread is to support all of us as we go through this - it won't happen overnight but it will happen.

So congrats on your loss!!!

Broken - glad to hear no surgery. Hope you continue to mend.

I weighed in this morning. I am at 233- that's a total of 17 pounds lost in just under 2 months. I have not taken measurements in a couple weeks but last time I did I'd lost 2 inches off my waist and 2 off my hips. I know it's more than that now.

I was wearing a size 24 when I started. I'm a 20 now.

At this very moment I'm tired from getting up early and working out before I had a chance to get lazy and skip my Friday workout. I'm kinda sore from my fitball class last night, though I think working out this morning helped a bit.

But I got a good look at myself in the mirror this morning and it's all worth it. I'm lookin gooood.

Okay. My protein drink is chilling in the fridge. Sun is up... no snow. Another 30 minutes and I'll be out the door to do my morning walk. Haven't done that in more time than I care to remember.

Took my measurements. Depressing. Oh well... gotta start somewhere.

Leaving today for Nashville to participate in the 1/2 marathon. 13 months ago I started on this journey. 40 lbs later, I've reached my 1st goal to get into a size 14 pants. Told myself if I just did that, I'd be happy. (I was a 22W).

Well, not happy with that and determined to reach my next goal. Another 40 will be off by this time next year. I haven't been very good lately, and I haven't been able to figure out why. I think burn-out.

But tomorrow I will attempt to accomplish something I never dreamed I would be doing. 13.1 miles. And when I'm finished I know I will be so proud of myself that the burn-out will be nothing but a memory. Come Monday morning I vow to be focused, focued, focused!

I'm not going to let this define me anymore. He's gone and I couldn't be happier.

I would love to take up running, but I don't think I can because of all the screws and stuff in my ankle.

Theoretically, pins, screws, and rods are supposed to make activivty easier. Not always the case, though. I have pins and a titanium rod in my femur, and it makes my knee crunchy sometimes. Plus, any time a fracture heals, it shortens the bone slightly. I still run. But I need to insert a 3/4 inch heel lift into my right running shoe before I set out. It really makes a world of difference.

Good morning everyone!

How's everyone doing?

As of this morning, I've lost 22 pounds - 6.5 pounds to goal! I'm finally feeling better - if the weather clears up here I'll get out and walk today.

There's a new yoga center in town and I'm considering giving it a try - but I hate public exercise classes so I need to work up to it!

4 glasses of water already this morning. (I'm getting a cold so it wasn't hard. )

I went shopping last night and bought some of my healthy staples - lots of fruits and veggies, ww whole wheat pita, chicken breasts.

Avoiding white carbs really helps (my one exception is ronzoni smart taste pasta - it's white pasta but has tons of fiber and calcium so I'm able to moderate.) For the WW followers - 3 pts for a cup - which is usually plenty when I add lots of veggies.

I find that keeping plenty of decent quality frozen veggies on hand really helps. No excuse for not adding peppers & onions to dishes when I can throw a handful of frozen in.

I hope everyone is doing well. Lets plan healthy choices and keep moving. We can do this!

Hi All,

I can't seem to get the water thing down yet. The most I can drink is maybe 1-2 cups a day. I decided to splurge this weekend, because I just couldn't take it anymore! I hadn't had fast food in over 3 weeks and I just craved it. So, Jack In the Box I went. I know this might affect my weight loss this week, but at least I have still kept up my walking.

I'm not sure how to get over those cravings yet!
