I was wondering if this was a big problem in years past or something?
I understand and agree with the idea and reasons, I want this place to be about healing from infidelity myself, but I wonder if a mod could answer.
This has been a big problem in the past?
Has this been a problem this year prior to the threats of being banned.
Is this the first year for the banner?
It's just that there are such strong feelings from administrators and mods, like this place has had tough times before about political issues.
Okay, I'm being nosey.

Yes, it's been a problem in the past.
No matter how gently we ask that no politics be discussed here...it still goes on. So now we're playing hardball.
We are not a political site.
Futhermore, SI is an NPO we would risk losing our NPO status if this site shows a bias towards any one canidate.
Politics do not belong here.

Political debate tends to take over and get extremely heated, and it's simply not what this board is about.
Think about how many mods there are, and how many members. If we allowed political debate here, we would not have the time to moderate *anything* else.

Thanks for answering. I could only guess the amount of grief you must have gone through, to feel so strongly to ban a member.
Thanks

to feel so strongly to ban a member.
I think that what the death penalty that was plastered all over the site for absolutely days is supposed to mean, anyway.

got2....yes it has been really bad in years past....your right...the greif they have gone thru has been unbelievable....
Don't they alrady have boards to discuss politics?...
I will admit that I was at first a little shocked about the "no tolerance" stand....but I will tell you this...it has been a long time coming....and it really is about time....
With as heated as this election promises to be....it is best to get out in front and take a stand now.....

Quite honestly, and I won't speak for the other mods but only myself, I get fed up with being ignored. This isn't a secret policy or anything. It's in the guidelines, it's been discussed on the board, we've edited out posts until our fingers bleed - and people just keep doing it.
So, IMO, if someone chooses to disregard all of the warnings and reminders about this guideline, I don't feel that they have the respect for this site that it deserves.
You know, we're all here because someone broke the rules of marriage so to speak......so why do so many feel it's fine to break this rule? It baffles me, it really does.

THanks you guys for so kindly and gently reinforcing this.
You are right. Just about ANYBODY will argue about politics, and religion.
So let's all make every effort to follow the rules.
For myself, I have just started once a week or so clicking on the guidelines and reviewing them. It helps me keep myself in line. I get into trouble sometimes when I 'generalize' and it hurts people's feelings. And I don't want to do that. So if you haven't read the SI guidelines in a while, you might want to review them today.
Love to all

Amen KSA
People ignore, ignore and ignore and then cry fowl when they're held responsible for their own actions.
We've had it. We've been patient. We've started threads begging people to stop. We've PM'd MANY and explained why politics don't belong here.
What do we get in return? A slap in the face and a big screw you. So now...we're pushing back.

I read something on here one time...OR MAYBE A HUNDRED TIMES...taht everyone needs to own their own shit....well folks we are now being given a chance to own our own shit.....and some of us will take our shit in a doggie bag to go......
I have seen the mods plead over this....so many times....all I got to say is...about fucking time.....we can do this...we know we can...and we owe it to the mods and each other to do it......

I don't know how many more warnings could possibly be given, but a lot of people have been given a lot of rope on this issue, and I for one think that a hanging is in order.

Basic, you're gonna get hanged!
Whether or not you're hung is a discussion for a completely different forum (but I'm guessing that if you were you wouldn't be trying so hard to convince everyone).

I'm REALLY glad I read this, because I could have innocently violated it. The other night, my husband said, I did not have sex with her and I told him he sounded just like (a certain politician whom he despises but I liked & voted for). I'm glad I didn't relate that story because I would have just spelled out the name without realizing it was a no-no!

Well done SI Admin, and Mods for introducing the zero tolerance.
We all have more important things to worry about, otherwise we wouldn't be here.
Once again, thanks for making SI such a great place.
