Recently, I have noticed that I have started to get the dryest skin.

However, I hate that greasy feeling of heavy lotions.

I use Arbonne for a few years, but my skin has changed and it isn't working any longer.

Any suggestions for cleanser / lotion for a woman in her late 30's getting dry skin?

alwayssomething seems to leave out words when types. Personal pronouns are something doesn't need...

Just read the your post title ...

when I am in the shower I scrub with Oil of Olay body wash the new one in the purple bottle with a loofa ... I use Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil-eliminating Astringent ... and then just what ever body lotion I have at the time after I rub into my arms I spread lightly over my face ...

my face being clean and my pores open seems to help it absorb the lotion better ...

It important to get the dead skin off that why I scrub in the shower ... since your skin already so dry you may not wanna use the oil eliminating stuff ...

It does get easier

Sugar. I swear by it!

I wash my face everyday with sugar. I'm 46 and a sugar scrub keeps away the dry skin, keeps my skin smooth and gives my skin a healthy glow and all that kind of good stuff

I also use sugar on the rest of my bod as well.

I used to spend BIG bucks on face products UNTIL I found sugar. I always buy two bags of sugar at the grocery store. One bag for me and one bag for coffee

I love Lancome's cleansers and exfoliants. They are so awesome. I use oil-free lotion and it doesn't feel greasy at all!

Philosophy girl here--Hope in a Jar; as far as I'm concerned, it is the best. Very light, absorbs instantly and feels like heaven--especially in our dry desert heat.

Oh; and for cleanser Philosophy's Purity Made Simple; takes off all makeup including stubborn eye makeup!

Rise and Shine....

I do something similar, but use a salt scrub instead. Salt is a lot 'cheaper' than sugar in my neck of the woods!

The abrasiveness exfoliates the dead skin and leaves you baby soft. Just be careful around the eyes!

Clarins, it's a great product - all of it. I use their cosmetics too. If you have a Clarins counter in a store near you, ask when they wii next be having free facials (usually about every 8 weeks or so I think), and get booked in for one.

I also use Osmotics. They have a great hydrating cleanser, amazing eye cream, and their blue copper moisturiser really is good.

Hmm...salt. I'll have to give it a try. The only thing I can think might be a problem is if the salt gets into my mouth. I don't mind if sugar does but salt?

Oh yeah, rubbing the sugar on the lips also helps keep them nice and soft!

My h said his sisters use sugar. I tried it, but the sugar had evaporated. I guess using water with the sugar isn't a good idea? .

How do you do it. Just use straight sugar or straight salt and then rinse off? Okay, Im a dunce. Admittedly.

Time to be my own bff.

You're not a dunce at all.

The more you do it, the more you get a feel for how much moisture to salt/sugar you'll need.

Basically, I just moisten my hand or a washcloth and sprinkle/pour the salt on it. (There shouldnt be enough moisture to melt the salt/sugar...just enough for it to be kind of 'clumpy').

Rub on your bare skin then rinse!

I am going to be in the weird camp. First off all I have very acne prone skin and have had acne since 10 so I have tired alot of stuff and are now doing more natural things.

1. Oil-Cleansing Method. This is what I am using right now, yes cleaning my skin with oil and there is a formula for people with dry skin. So right now I am using a combo of Castor oil and Olive oil. You can view the link below and search for how it works for others.

http://simplemom.net/oil-cleansing-method/

2. Raw Honey. I usually lightly damp my face and then just apply the honey, rub and rinse.

3. I think I also used brown sugar and honey also. I also hear some people use baking soda.

Alot of commercial products leaves your face very dry. I wish I knew what would be good incase you need alittle more moisture after washing your face but I don't really use anything.

I put a layer of vaseline petroleum jelly on my face about 10 minutes before I get into the shower. I leave it on while showering and it basically just absorbs into my skin.

ANewBeginning....

My 16yr old is plagued with acne.

She's tried all the usual products (proactiv, max-clarity, et) and nothing really works other than clearing up the redness. Unfortunately, the bumps still remain.

Does the method you just described work well for you?
