Well, hopefully this works. Me on one of "my" sailboats, lol!

Imagine a ship trying to set sail while towing an anchor. Cutting free is not a gift to the anchor. You must release that burden, not because the anchor is worthy, but because the ship is.

Skan,

I love sailing and when I am on the tiller I still get nervous if the heel angle gets too high. (I enjoy it when I'm working the sheets). I could never do what you are doing. Wow!

Skan, I got dizzy just looking at that picture. And then I realized that you were looking UP....which means there was someone even HIGHER than you .....and now? I have to go lie down......

Seriously, though, very cool pic.

Thanks to everyone for posting pictures. It is always nice to *meet* you, your kids, and the special people in your lives. You are all amazing.

Holy smokes Scan, what type of ship are you on? At first I thought you were on the bow sprit, then I took another look and saw the sails. Please tell me you are at least tied on? (that's the mom in me)

That's awesome! I'm jealous.

Ah come on, climbing is the FUN part! We''re getting ready to "let fall the sails" which means to loosen them so we can set them and get sailing.

BTW, if you look reeeeally close on Pirates of the Caribbean 4, you''ll see Mr Skan and I. Look for these two!

edited to add, Issaquah, I'm on the HMS Surprise, from the movie Master and Commander and POTC4. We sail tall ships I've sailed on several. Too Much Fun!

That is SO awesome!!!! Skan - what incredible experiences you've had! We went to OpSail in Norfolk this summer and I was in heaven, to see all those beautiful tall ships docked. Honestly I can't even imagine learing all those lines. My WH sailed the USCG Eagle across the Atlantic when he was 19, so he's pretty darn lucky, all I ever got to sail was a 30 ft Ketch. (okay, that's lucky too) but certainly not the same.

You're amazing!
