The other night I went out for dinner with a widows/widowers group from meetup.com. It was nice and I will probably join them again. The restaurant was just down the street from where I used to live, and my male friend asked me to give him a call when I was leaving the restaurant (located in the parking area of a shopping mall).

So I called, he pulled up next to my car, and had me follow him around to the rear area of the mall..........

There was a little carnival, complete with mini midway and several rides, including a ferris wheel! He had not been on a ferris wheel for 30 years, and for me it was 21 years. But we rode the Ferris wheel and held hands while I rode my wheelchair and he walked around.

That sounds like such a fun evening for you both. It is always fun to do things you haven't done in years. It sounds like you had a fun evening together and you had a good time with the group. You can't ask for much more than that.

Today's 12 hour date sort of continues the theme, too. He came over to have lunch, then we went to the Science Museum (hadn't been there since grandaughter was small - about 11 years ago). Then to yet another meetup group (my favorite one so far).....a bunch of euchre players. We neither one had played in about 30 years. And wound up sitting in the back seat of my van and necking for a few minutes - very high school!

Thank you, gma. I never ever expected anything like this to happen to me.....especially at age 64, and so soon after my husband's death.

But I keep questioning him and looking for amber or red flags and reading baggage reclaim, and the two of us keep coming up as healthy attracts healthy, and hooray for second chances!
