I've been listening to a video on Youtube with some beautiful music playing in the background. Is there any way to find out the name of the piece of music?

I contacted the person who put it on there and they said they found it on the net a few years ago but they don't know any info on it.

Thanks for any help.

Do you have a smart phone? There are apps that will tell you what it is.

You can use a program to extract it from youtube, but I don't know how to find the original composer.

I second the app suggestion. Soundhound is a good option if you have an android phone (not sure what's available on iOS). Just load up the app and let it listen to the video.

If you post a link to the video i could even do this for you if you don't have a smartphone.

I have found TrackID works well, and it is free.

Oldest DS has a SmartPhone with the app and we tried it last night but there is talking going on over the music and it won't pick it up.

I will try your suggestions LCL and Aesir, thanks! Hopefully can find out who it is.

ETA: Um. Nevermind. I apparently didn't read your post correctly.

In an effort to actually be helpful What kind of music is it? If it's classical, could you find a classical music forum to post it on and see if anyone there can identify it, etc?
