My FWH and I are doing well, 3.5 years out, come a very long way. But there is one really annoying thing. I know you all give great advice, and an even better sense sense of humor-- so I am looking for a silly light hearted way to deal with this annoying trigger.
See the problem is that OW has an unusual last name. There is a street by the same name that snakes all over Houston. (Pun intended!) I go to Houston a lot for work and fun. I don't know my way around too well, but I know the freeways and major streets, but OW street surprises me all the time. Each time, it is yucky trigger. Whether it is an exit from the highway or the street where my favorite sandwich shop is, it leaves a lump in my stomach. I need to associate that street name with something else. Any ideas?

When you read the street sign, add to it, "Was not the problem. My husband was the problem. My issue is with him. He and I are now working together......etc."

On my phone records I could rename callers. I renamed OW "wonderskank". It makes me laugh a little. Maybe you can rename that street in your head something pitiful or silly.

You could find a deserted section of the street, pull over late at night for a minute and using your bumper as a seat proceed to urinate (near a drain please), then whenever you see it you can think (quite literally) piss on her.
Or not, because I am sure it is against some law and I don't want to advocate breaking any laws, but it's just a thought.
I am sure just by reading this, next time you see the street you will think of it differently.

I wish I had an answer. The city I was in when WH was with OW is a big vacation city here in our state. Everytime my kids mention it (we used to go with my friend every summer) or we drive by a sign for it - I want to puke. It's on my list of things to reclaim.
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck - it's not a fluffy pink unicorn squirting liquid rainbows, complete with pots of gold out of it's ass.

Substitute OW street name in your mind with something insulting, ideally something that's at least somewhat true. If say, her name was Patsy, and she could lose a few pounds, call the street Fatsy Patsy in your mind.
My apologies in advance to anyone named Patsy on here. I am sure YOU are a lovely Patsy! And I also recommend not saying it aloud if you have kids in the car, as it is kind of close to bullying dialogue.

I told my H about driving past his work where he met his OW. He told me to take a different route. haha. We are now S.
But, honestly, I blocked it all out of my mind and I still drive by it every day. It doesn't bother me much any more.

Try to remember that just like the street, OW is something that anyone is free to ride on.
Bumpy in places, cracked, worn with age and use...yeah, some parts might appear to be in good shape, but the weaknesses will always eventually appear.
And all because just anyone can take a ride on her.
