Any recommendations?

We have two pots.

Yesterday, at some unearthly hour our coffee pot decided that it was done making us coffee (Thanks God we keep a stash of instant on hand)

Sometime over night our back up pot leaked water all over the counter. We managed to get it to brew (phew) but I'm thinking we need a new one.

And two pots, is a lie.

We also have a french press, two tiny little egyptian pots, and at least one Bialetti pot (you know, makes a little cup of sludge that once you drink it you are unable to be lazy for a while)

Bunn. I love my coffee and I will only buy a Bunn.

I had to buy something for my RV we were picking up out of Florida last year. I didn't buy a Bunn because the Walmart store didn't have one for me to order and have ready for pick up. Boy that was a lesson learned. I think it is a Hamilton or such. Cost me $100 and boy I wish it was a Bunn.

I drink 4 pots of coffee a day..

Wow!!! I thought drinking one pot was a lot lol

I only have a cheapy coffee maker from Walmart. It does me good enough although occasionally it prefers to overflow onto the counter instead of drip into the pot

When I lived with my parents we all drank so muh coffee that we had an urn

We tend to drink a fair amount of coffee at our house as well. We purchased a top of the line cuisinart one and it has lasted us at least 5 years. They make one with a carafe that is insulated like a thermos, and those stay warm all day long. That's what I plan to get when this one dies. I've been waiting over a year now.....

I love my Keurig. I bought the reusable K-cup for it. I actually probably save money that way because I just fill the K-cup when I want a cup instead of making all kinds of pots that I don't finish. I don't usually buy the actual k-cups anymore since it gets pricey with the amount of coffee we make.

I also have a Krups that I got 6 years ago. It was fairly expensive at the time as far as coffee makers go. However, I can not tell you how many times I got complimented or asked what kind of coffee I was using. I am pretty sure it's the filter in it. It just tastes better..which is weird but true.

We drink lots of coffee here too. And we have a lineup of various coffee contraptions lined up on one counter. Finally10 makes the drip coffee here. He says he wants a Breville grind and brew next. I was looking at the Bunn.

I drink 4 pots of coffee a day

Are they 4-cup pots or 12-cup pots?

I have a single cup coffee maker that I got from Walmart for $15.00. I've used it for 2 years now and love it. It has the permanent filter, so I don't have to worry about buying them. I also have a coffee maker that grinds the beans directly into the filter and then brews the coffee. In addition, I have an aluminum coffee pot that you boil the water and pour it through the top and the water drips through the built in filter to make the coffee and a french press.

Oh, and my bff just bought me a Mr. Coffee coffee maker that uses the keurig pods.

Needless to say, I like coffee

Keurig is nice if you like your coffee one cup at a time and can't finish a whole pot, but has durability issues if used heavily. One cup, done in a wink, no fuss, no muss, and on your way out the door in the morning.

If you're polishing off 4 whole pots a day with no problems, and wish to continue guzzling at that pace, it may be annoying to stop and brew between each cup, and the machine may start to crack under the pressure.

Broevil and Dragnheart I had the same problem with several coffeemakers leaking on the countertops. I found out it is because the filter folded over while the coffee was brewing and a little bit of the ground coffee clogged the little part on the bottom that lets you pull out the pot while it brews.

Take the part that hold the filter and turn it upside down in running water while pushing that part in and out. This should clear up the issue.

My parents always have Bunn's. Theirs last forever.

We liked it so much we went and bought one. It lasted maybe a year. So, brought it back and they gave us another one. Lasted about a year and half.

We now have a Cuisanart. We like it very much so far. Hoping it will last longer than the Bunn's. We only make one pot a day.

I love my Keurig, too, but we each only drink one cup a day, maybe two, so I'm not sure about brewing so much per day.

I like Meta's idea of the reusable little filter. I've been thinking about getting that because the K-cups get expensive.

DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

I drink a TON of coffee. I've had many coffee makers that last a year, tops. I bought a Cuisinart about 1.5 years ago, and I really like it. I have VERY hard water, so I have to clean it often to remove deposits, but that would be the same with any coffee maker and my water.

I also love VERY, VERY, VERY strong coffee. Flavor wise, my favorite is Krups.

Can't go wrong with either one, IMO.

We have a 10 cup Cuisinart. We purchased it at Kohl's 3 yrs ago (or so) for $16 on some super sale. With 3 adults who all love coffee, we go through 2-3 pots a day. I loooove coffee!

If you're a couple cups a day family, then I'd go Keurig.

If you're a pot or two or more a day, I'd go Bunn. Bunn brews really fast--like a 2 minute pot brew time.

Thanks for all the recommendations!

So far pot two is doing okay if we pour the water in and hit brew right away!

We've got a little time to figure out which one to buy

I'm a luddite and use a ceramic filter holder that sits on top of my cup that holds a folded paper filter. I use an electric kettle to boil bottled water (we have a well with very hard water), and pour the hot water over the grounds by hand. You would NOT believe the labor involved, I have to do this three whole times and it must take at least 5 minutes to get my coffee!!!!

Cuisinart Filter Brew here. Top of the line in 2002 with permanent stainless filter. Still working, though it is probably time to change the charcoal filter in the water compartment. It was first appliance purchase after buying a house, and was in use while I renovated (gutted) the house. Because I was renovating the house every evening I could not go out for coffee, so my friends all came over instead. Easily made 4 pots every evening while they visited.

Your mileage may vary... in accordance with the prophecy.
