Apparently, in our seven member office team, Iím the only person who knows how to change out the kitchen garbage. Is this petty? Certainly. That said, in the last month, Iíve changed it 5 times. Why? Because Iím a neat freak.

I get it. Itís hard work. You have to lift the lid of the outside container. Take out the basket. Pull those really tough to sometimes see plastic handles to close the bag. Then you have to remove the bag from the basket, tie the handles to close the bag and put it into the large trash bin four steps away.

One must then walk three steps to the cabinet to get a new bag, walk one additional step back to the container and insert it into the basket while making sure the top of the bag goes securely around the basket tightly. Then, lift the empty basket back into the container and close the lid.

Exhausting.

Iím just gonna sit back and see how full this baby gets.

How DO you do it?!

Put a little garbage can next to you so you're not contributing to their mess...I bet they empty that can a whole lot faster now that you're on strike!

metamorphisis posted 9/5/2013 11:43 AM

You go!! Seriously.. I don't take that crap from my kids anymore (oh but I did for a loooonnnnng time) and I certainly wouldn't take it from my coworkers.

little turtle posted 9/5/2013 11:49 AM

When was the last time you took out the trash? Just curious for how long that bag will remain in there. Any idea how long it will take for someone else to take the trash out? I won't be surprised if it gets full and stinky before that happens...

ajsmom posted 9/5/2013 12:39 PM

I'm being adamant. It's about to runneth over.

And yes, I'm considering taking my own trash out in my lunch pouch.

That's the thing - it doesn't have to go outside - it just has to be moved to an inside larger container - steps away.

Freaking Prima Donna's.

Every day I leave my coffee cup on my desk. Every morning I come in and it is clean in the sink. My office manager cannot stop herself from cleaning it. I used to feel bad for forgetting, but now it is a game and I cannot stop myself from fucking with her. I know that one day she will come up behind me and stab me in the neck. Until that day, I am enjoying my clean cups. We thank you for your cleanliness.

You GO Ajsmom! I don't blame you one bit!

I have a coworker that drives me nuts! She is horrible about cleaning up after herself, often leaves dishes in the sink (for days if the rest of us refuse to touch it). If it is left over the weekend, we come in on Monday morning to a break room that stinks to high hell. Its gross!!

It is now an unwritten rule that any dish left in the sink overnight gets tossed in the trash. No questions asked. After losing a few "prized" containers (and listening to her whine about it), she now cleans up after herself. Well- to clarfify, she no longer leaves dishes overnight. But the dish will sometimes still sit in the sink all day. Grrrrrrr........

So...here we are as of roughly 12:45 PM CT today.

Not everyone has eaten lunch yet, especially the person who gets big ass fast food bags.

Me?

I hid an empty salad dressing container in the door of the fridge and washed my paper plate and put it in my desk.

tushnurse posted 9/5/2013 14:18 PM

Good for you AJs!!!
I quit "pulling" the trash at home. I found that I was the only dummy who did it. It was always a wrestling match, and hurt my arthrtic hands a great deal.

Now we have resorted to a fun game at our house we refer to as trash Jenga, when the can is full the lid comes off, and things start getting stacked on top, the person who adds the last piece that makes it fall has to pull it and take it out to the can. LOL My H cheats, he just sets his trash on the counter when the pile is high, and if I catch that, he has to pull it and empty the bathroom cans too.
Yup we are certifiable at our house.....

Have you actually told them you're on strike? Or just watching how long until they even realize?

GabyBaby posted 9/5/2013 17:20 PM

I think it'd be more fun to watch. They're probably getting increasingly indignant that Ajsmom has been so lazy and hasn't change out the trash yet.
How dare she?!

aesir posted 9/5/2013 17:40 PM

I see you've decided to help the environment by installing an office composter.

I'd print out step by step instructions on how to empty the bin and tape it to the front... but I'm snarky like that.

ajsmom posted 9/6/2013 08:34 AM

Just sitting back and waiting.

(Whistles)

Here's the status when I walked in this morning.

little turtle posted 9/6/2013 10:25 AM

It's gonna be stinky in there on Monday.

nowiknow23 posted 9/6/2013 10:28 AM

This. Is. Hilarious. Go, ajsmom!

Rebreather posted 9/6/2013 12:13 PM

It's not even full yet!

tushnurse posted 9/6/2013 12:41 PM

Wow if that doesn't get pulled at the end of the day, I hate to think what Monday will smell like.....
Hope you keep febreeze in your desk. LOL

ajsmom posted 9/9/2013 09:12 AM

Phewie!

(Insert green faced emoticon here)

Well, the owner of the company finally bagged it up, and yowsa, does it stink in here!

I'm thinking of doing this again, just to see what happens.

Strike continues.
