money and PI's

Hurtingnconfused posted 9/2/2020 07:26 AM

So our divorce was July 8th and we still have to sign off on two insurance checks as well as he owes me a lot of money. He quit his job and has moved.

The money he owes me is not a huge deal however the insurance checks will hold up fixing the house to the tune of 20,000+ dollars.

Anyone have any experience with if small claims will work, hiring a PI or how I would go about tracking his butt down or even if I have to?

I suspect that he has moved one state over to be with the MOW who announced to husband 1/3 and 2 that she was divorcing them. I have her old address. Not sure if she got the house, if she is divorced now or what.

I could always drive one state over and sit outside her old house to see if he is there, but they have a garage so he could always put it in there. serve him there anyway?

I really just want him to sign checks so I can move on. My work will pay for three "counseling" sessions so it can be with lawyer, I am hoping that he/she can guide me but have no idea where to start or what questions to ask

thoughts??

I suspect a PI could track him down pretty quickly, and it wouldn't cost too much. The PIs I looked at when I was digging up evidence on my STBXWW all charged a flat up-front minimum 8 hour service fee. The person I chose charged $500, whether he spent one hour investigating or one month, and that was just the starting rate.

Your PI will probably not take that long to track your husband down. PIs have information networks and tricks of the trade they use to quickly locate people.

So, funny thing, my SD22 was planning on going to Green Bay with her new husband, she’s autistic. They’ve been saving up for a year. Suddenly she’s now moving with her dad to Idaho,,,,, Guessing my Ex is living w her till the MOW is able to get her divorce. It’ll be easy to find her. I’m just not surprised. Disgusted... but not surprised.

I THINK I might be able to get the insurance company to get him to sign.... if he just got his own policy.
