Stumbled upon this guy quite by accident a week ago. So far I've read "Last Night at the Lobster," "Songs for the Missing," and "Prayers for the Dying."
All I can say is - wow. Especially "Prayers."
*Crap, it's time to get coffee. I tacked an extra "a" onto his name - it's O'Nan, not O'Nana.

I read "Last Night at the Lobster" years ago an really liked it. Will have to check out his others now. Thanks for reminding me of him.

She packed up her potential and all she had learned and headed out to change a few things.

It's hard to pin him to a particular genre, I think.
Lobster: the story (third person) of the last night of business for a Red Lobster, told from the viewpoint of one character.
Missing: the story (third person) of a young woman gone missing and the subsequent impact that has on her family and friends.
Prayers: historical fiction of a post-Civil War town hit with fire and disease. Told from the second person in a very subtle and effective fashion.
