I just finished a great book last week. Read it in less than a day. Then I started another one, and OMG, what a drag.
The book "How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents" got excellent reviews all around. And I'm just hating it.
Don't know what is wrong, but once I start a book, I always finish it. I keep thinking that somehow the book has got to be good.
I want my next book to be one I can't put down. Don't care what it is about, I'll read anything.

Try my fav author, James Patterson. Usually a fast read, but some are dogs. A-related is "The Quickie" which is definitely about affair regret. Some triggers, but the woman is such a protagonist I've read it a couple of times. I like strong woman characters, but that's just me.

Thanks April. I've read all of James Patterson's books. I'll try The Quicky.
Oddly enough, the book I read last week in less than a day was about an affair. And I couldn't put it down.

I loved The Book Thief about an orphaned girl that is taken in by a couple during the Nazi war. The whole story is written from the girl's perspective - a definite page turner.

"Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin. I bought it at a garage sale, took it home and read it right through.
And it is about two women that have been friends since childhood. One is getting married and the other is her maid of honor who cheats with the groom.
Usually I can't stomach affair stories, but this was good.

I'm just finishing "A Captain's Duty" by Richard Phillips. It is the true story of his abduction by pirates in 2009 in the Indian Ocean. It is refreshing to read a story in the first person, by a man who honors his wife and family and who has survived with his integrity intact. This book especially appealed to me because my father had been in the Merchant Marines for 5 years following the end of WWII. I grew up in a military (my mom was also in the Navy WAVES) and a boating family.

I found Witch and Wizard by James Patterson to be an interesting read. I'll have to find the follow up to it.
Another I found to be a page turner is Stephen King's Under The Dome.
(get it in paperback as the hardbound is a wristbreaker...)

Scratch that.. good book.. sad as hell though. It also has some infidelity that I didn't see coming... just as a warning.

I posted about The Invisible Bridge by Julia Orringer. That was such a page turner once I got into it. 600 pages flew by. Epic. Fabulous. Best book I've read in ages. Took an afternoon off to dive into it I just couldn't stop reading.

I've read this one a thousand times. I've also read "Something Blue". It picks up right where "Something Borrowed" left off, except this time it's from the point of view of Darcy, the bride.

Pillars of the Earth. After kicking it around for months, I finally picked it up to read. Could not put it down. It will be a page-page-page-page-turner since it is nearly 1000 long.

I am currently reading "Every Last One" by Anna Quindlen and really enjoying it.
This was my first (and last) Quindlen, and one of a very few books I've read in my life that I'd put on the regret reading list. Seemed like a tribute to everything teenagers hate about adults. By the time we hit the infidelity portion of the program, I was neither surprised nor did I care.
The only positive piece of the book was when the former friend tried to run down the protagonist in her car.
My favorite page-turners, when I'm in that mood, have been Grisham and Crichton. Some love the Dan Brown books for that purpose (DaVinci Code is far, far better than the others).
When someone tells you who she is, listen; when someone shows you who she is, listen carefully.
