Any other Stephen King fans here?
I'm reading this now. Just got to the part with the . . . errr, can opener. Wasn't expecting that. 
Great book, though. I love me some Stephen King.

I am a Stephen King fanatic, but I OD'd on books some time ago and had to take a break... 
I have Lisey's Story on my bookshelf, as well as Just After Sunset. I'll get to them--if I can ever get off SI

I haven't read After Sunset. Going to google it now!
I've read a lot of Stephen King books and I'm normally not easily freaked out but there were two parts in Lisey's Story that scared me - one to the point where I had to stop reading for the night, and one that made me go check the doors and make sure the alarm was on.

Did you read Pet Sematary? That was the only one I had a hard time with; I coudl not read it when I was alone in the house, and I'm a hardcore horror fan!

Lisey's Story was the first one I ever read. Since then I have really enjoyed From A Buick 8, Full Dark No Stars, and Under the Dome.

Go back and read his older books; I think they are still the best. Salem's Lot and The Stand are my all-time favorites.

Totally agree with Sad in AZ. His old ones are his best. I bought Lisey's Story and had such a hard time getting into it that I just brought it to work for the book swap.

liseys story is one of the harder reads. as in hard to get into and hard to keep you "in" the story imo.
my list of sk favs 
"the dark tower series". seriously. stick with it, it's worth it. not typical king (gore, scary etc...), but in of itself, his best work imo.
"the green mile" (the movie rocked, the books are even better. worth the read even if you've seen the movie)
anything written under the name richard bachman...( "rage", "the long walk" )
"the talisman" and "black house" in that order. hard to get into, but once you are it's really classic king.
"the langoliers" short, but good.

I forgot about The Green Mile--loved that one, and the movie is great too; rare for SK. Not his fault; the longer books are too complicated to translate well as a movie. Many of his short stories are fabulous also.
And 'It'; how could I forget that one?!

I'm a huge SK fan. Lisey's Story is not my favorite but it was decent. Kinda sad. I agree about The Green Mile. Have read The Stand several times. "It" is very good, IMO. Two more faves, The Talisman and the sequel, Black House (written with Peter Straub).

I agree that Lisey's story was hard to get into! And I don't understand all the reviews about how this was a love story, romance novel, blah blah. Uh, no. I'm sure Danielle Steel fans would have been disappointed.
I loved The Talisman! Forgot about that one. I actually read Black House first, and then went back and read The Talisman. So good.
It's been years since I read Pet Semetary - I don't think I could handle the little boy getting hit by the truck now. I always picture my great-grandmother's farmhouse and the road in front of it when I think of that part.

Black House gave me nightmares!
I loved Under The Dome...I did think it was kind of a Lord of The Flies for adults.

I love SK books. I have most of them, as well as the movies. The Stand is my favorite, book and movie. The Dark Tower Series was good as well, although some King fans don't enjoy it. I am looking forward to his next book.

I've read EVERYTHING he's ever written - love them all.
Sometimes I HATE the endings because, well... it ends and I don't want it to.
I can never get enough of his books.

I loooove Stephen King too!!
Lisey's Story is a bit of a departure for him, and I do understand why it might be called a "romance" because of the deep love that drives Lisey to help her husband.
Dark Tower Series is great! There are many layers there as The Stand.
The short stories are very good like "Rita Hayward and the Shawshank Redemption". The movie was probably the best adaptation of one his works and the movie is one of many people's favorite movies.
King is a superb writer. A few pages into "Dolores Claiborne" and you would swear it was a middle aged woman writing it and forget King is writing!
My first King book was "The Shining" and I was hooked

I admit that I was positively addicted to his earlier stuff: Carrie, et al. For some reason the news stuff kinda leaves me cold.
