I have had it since Christmas (thanks, honey) but I just don't think we are compatible.

I just miss turning pages, I guess. I'm currently reading a novel that my brother wrote (I really like being able to send the Word doc to my Kindle email and being able to download it) but he's asked me to edit some things and it's just not the same as marking up galleys.

I'm also reading a couple of other books on it and I just don't seem to be able to stay focused.

And I'm scared to read in the bath with it. I'm pretty sure it's not waterproof.

I had mine for well over a year before I really got comfortable with it. At first I wasn't reading the right kind of stuff (more reference stuff then fiction). I love it when I am traveling or having to wait at places. I still like having a "book" but now there are times that I prefer the functionality of the Kindle. I think my fave part of it is that I don't lose my place!!!!

I agree - around home, I like a "real" book.

When I was traveling for my job, I loved the Kindle. I could whip that thing out anywhere and read for hours. And it fit in my medium sized purse so easily!

Yeah, I miss the turning pages and the feel of reading a book. Having a cover has helped a bit. I mostly just use my Kindle for travel. Sure beats taking a dozen books on a plane and worrying about the weight.

Hooray! That's so good to hear as it means there is hope for your immortal soul. Kindles, much like Dungeons and Dragons in the 80s, are the gateway to an eternity in a lake of fire.

My mom is a speed reader. All those romance novels. We almost bought her one for Christmas, but decided against it because she is member of local used bookstore and because she reads so much, has large credit there. The expensiveness of using the Kindle for romance novels (that cannot be returned), swayed us against one.

I did see a perfect use for one the other day though. Our Praise Team leader had the lyrics pulled up on his up front. It's kinda hard to see paper lyrics when the room is dimmed & overhead protector/light show of lyrics is being displayed.

I was worried about it being bulky for my mom or eyestrain also, b/c she works @home doing medical transcription work all day.

What about reading outdoors? Does it get black spots from overheating, like some analog displays do or have glare? Maybe not so flexible as a paperback @beach getaway?

@afraaid2loveagain- I put my kindle in a ziplock bag to read it in the bathtub. I haven't had any problems yet but I know what you mean about paper.

I jumped on the Nook bus. When I first got it, I posted on FB that it was "Nooky time". Then explained it in a follow on post. Everyone got a kick out of it.

ANYWAY, I do prefer real books at home, but any time I have to go anywhere, it's nice to have the Nook with me. I have the 3G one, so I can download books anywhere. Very convenient...

I do a combo of kindle and real book reading. When I have to jump in the car and go I love having the kindle. Cuddled up at home, I prefer a regular book. I am known to have the same book in Kindle and in print going at the same time

Kindles just have batteries.

I love my Kindle. It took me a few months to get used to it. But once I did...I never leave home without it.

I read a lot and it has saved me a ton of money because of all the free books. And now I have space!

I also just found a site where I can donate my paperbacks to our soldiers which is very cool!

I love my Kindle, too. But still have a big collection of real books that I will never part with.

Can I ask a KIndle question please....what is the quickest way to get to the bookmarks I have for web browsing? Is there a short cut?
