Best book I have read in a long time. I highly recommend it! The prose is lyrical, and I found myself wanting to stop and write down some of the quotes. It is the story of Masada- with lots of history and some mysticism thrown in.

a friend of mine just recommended this book. Heard it took the author 5 years to write. I'm waiting for the library to call me to get my reserved copy.

I haven't started it, yet, but it got a terrible review in "The Times" last week. Have a few books I need to finish first but then will get to it.

I'm an east coaster so think there is only one "Times." "The New York Times."

Alice Hoffman is one of my all time favorite authors. Her books always have some tiny bit of magic and mother/daughter relationships but without going overboard.
I am currently reading this book. It is reminding me of The Red Tent. This is a good thing!
