Just Found Out :
Argh - Yeast Infection?!

I found out a while back that my WH cheated on me (unprotected vaginal and anal sex). During the time he was with this skank we were not intimate. When D-Day happened I made him get tested and all came back clear. I didn't bother to get tested since he hadn't slept with me during that time and he was clean. Well, we have had sex a few times and now I am on my second yeast infection. Prior to this I only had one my whole life and it was way before I met him. We are in therapy and he swears up and down he has not been with anyone else since DDay. I don't know how he could be since I have him on GPS and he has only been going to work and coming home. So my question is - if he really has ended contact could he be carrying something that's giving me these infections? The first one I was put on antibiotics, the second happened today and I am just confused. I bought Monistat to help with it this afternoon and I will call the doctor on Monday, but am wondering if this has happened to anyone here? Or is it possible he tested negative for something and still passed it to me? Could he still be carrying some sort of bacteria from her? Like I don't have enough BS to deal with!

It could be a sexually transmitted infection, like bacterial vaginosis. If it turns out to be that, your WH should take an antibiotic for a full course as well. It happened to us during one of my pregnancies, and we both had to take an oral antibiotic.

Don't panic yet.

You can get yeast infections from eating too much sugar, and drinking highly acid soft drinks or juice, for example. You can wear too-tight jeans, which can happen if you've had water-weight gain from hormones of PMS, and get an infection.

Dietary issues are why diabetics have difficulty with frequent yeast infections.

When you were treated for the first yeast infection, your husband wasn't, so returned the infection to you, perhaps.

Also, antibiotics decrease your body's naturally occuring good bacteria. A yeast infection is a very common side effect of antibiotic use in women. Eating yogurt can help replenish your natural bacteria and fight off future yeast infections.

Have you actually been checked and diagnosed by a doctor that it is/was infact a yeast infection? That's what I thought I had before finding out about my WH PA, but when I went to the doctor I found out I had an STI called "trick" I had never even heard if it before. That's how I found out about the PA . The Dr. also told me that its very difficult to diagnose in men so even if they have it they will still test negative for it. I hope it turns out better for you, I just wanted you to be safe!

Exact thing happened to me during our HB time. We literally went from no sex life to....well, a lot. Sorry TMI.

bacterial vaginosis

I got that over and over again during my FWH A. Also got an STD. I was extremely confused and my WH explained the STD as him "accidentally" rubbing his dick on a public toilet while taking a dump. Stupid me fell for it as it never occured to me that he was cheating. Also got yeast infections for no reason. It all cleared up after DD and a final round of antibiotics. Haven't had any problems once he stopped fucking his howorker.

Neither BV or yeast infections are considered STDs anymore. They are caused by the good bacteria in the vagina dying off allowing overgrowth of either yeast or bad bacteria.

This can be caused by antibiotics of course but most usually it's from a change in pH of the vagina.

The vagina is supposed to be acidic at a pH of 4.1. To compare urine is less acidic at 5, stomach acid is more acidic at 2 and blood is slightly basic at 7.4. Water is 7.

Sweat, saliva, semen and blood all raise the pH as does being in water too much. So we see this in women who wear non cotton underwear (traps sweat) and when people are having more sex than usual.

Hope these explanations help.

Thanks for all of the responses. When I had the first one my doctor said the yeast test came back negative but to keep on the antibiotics and see if it resolved. It did, but then it came back yesterday and I freaked. Probably TMI but there's been blood in my urine too. With the first one it was like I was going to the bathroom and only blood was coming out. I'm going to get myself tested and discuss it with my DR.

But I wouldn't have these types of worries if this bastard didn't do this to me. Thanks again for all of your support.

I recently had BV that kept coming back. The first two antibiotics were too mild. The tests were sent off to a lab the last time and the Dr called and switched the antibiotics to the one that finally worked. Blood with me too- it was really bad.

I was happy to read what DrPJ4 wrote-thanks!

I was diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis after my H's A. My doctor told H that BV wasn't an STD (LOL). H thought he was off the hook until I made my doc explain that while not a classic STD, BV can be caused by the introduction of foreign flora and fauna of the OP after having unprotected sex.

Left untreated BV can cause itching, burning, foul odor and discharge; if left untreated for long periods it can lead to intense abdominal pain (thx FWH). Also after the initial flare up, BV can return at any time. So even after one and a half years I still occasionally have recurrences of BV. Thankfully I know how to treat it (antibiotics and rephresh pH balance).

So go get yourself checked and if it BV, be sure you WH understands that it is from the Skank.

edited for spelling.

THe only time I got yeast infections, UTI's and the ONE case of bacterial vaginosis in my life during my H's 5 year affair period was when I had sex with him.

I chalked it up to my precarious health, the fact that I was on antibiotics a lot, etc. It got so bad that EVERY TIME we had sex I'd get one. I was looking up the PH of things, I started using ph balanced vaginal washes, I had a standing prescription at the pharmacy of diflucan.

He was screwing her and me on the same days. And apparently my vaginal flora didn't like hers. At all.

Since his affairs stopped so did my chronic infections.

Cliffside- have you checked with your dr about the blood in your urine? That's worrisome.

THe only time I got yeast infections, UTI's and the ONE case of bacterial vaginosis in my life during my H's 5 year affair period was when I had sex with him.

I know they say that BV and YI aren't STDs, but the only time I've ever had issues are when I first started having sex with MrH. I was a virgin, he wasn't. Then after 1A and during 2A. Not even giving birth gave me issues. We also used NFP (natural family planning) for the 4yrs between kids. That meant I checked my cervix regularly, one would think a prime time to get infected if I wasn't careful. No infections.

Only as a result of giving him my virginity then each PA he had. I guess my body can fight off garden variety infections in my environment but not tramp cooties.

I had a bout of BV as well, not from my ex-husband but from my last boyfriend. I know the docs say its not an STD, but I have to wonder why I have never had this problem before in my life. Thank god I was tested for other STDs when I was diagnosed and those tests came back negative. Now we are not together anymore I swear no more unprotected sex with anyone until I know for sure they are clean and that I can trust them.

Hi

Me too.

Throughout most of our M I had MANY problems "down there". I mean LOTS with numerous visits to docs each year for everything from stubborn UTIs to BV and unexplained pain. (As an aside one time when my doc was away and I had to see someone else he told me the problems were too much rough sex - sadly none of the adjectives he used applied in my case a 5 minute episode once or twice a month hardly qualifies in my opinion )

Since dday - I have had almost no problems.

Strange that
