8 pain-free miles today! And, I even incorporated some hills and increased my speed a few times to test out the hip and butt! Felt good! Now I've got a date with a foam roller, an ice pack, and a bottle of lotion (don't get any ideas guys!)

I've got some confidence back! Now to just go into my half marathon race next Saturday with the idea of running smart and knowing when to back down when I need to!!! SO SO SO HAPPY right now!!! It went better than I expected!

Thank you! My goal now is just to finish! I'm not going to pressure myself with crazy dreams of insane times...just to finish and be proud that I was able to do it will be good enough for me!

Good for you. I have run a couple half marathons the last few years. I was in better shape the second race, but ran a lot slower since it was a hot day - much hotter than any of my training days. Lots of people were stopping the last few miles. These were in Nashville, Tn. I went from 1:53 to just over 2:00.

Many moons ago when I was 40 pounds lighter, I ran a half marathon as a third leg of a half ironman in 1:41!

Last fall I did a 10 mile trail run in 1:22.

My suggestion is that you don't push yourself much if at all before your race.

I had some minor hamstring problems a few years ago and they need rest and ice as you suggest.

Go get'em Shelly!
