So XH, whose pay check had to be garnished because he refused to pay child support while claiming poverty, bought an expensive hunting dog. The poor puppy just dropped dead, or so it is told by XH.

Then, his father died and he went home, 11 hours away, to grieve. He stayed away for 3 weeks, with no contact with his son. He ultimately returned to a house that had been emptied and ransacked by burglars who apparently even stole the food from the kitchen cabinets. And...guess who did not have renter's insurance....

Further, he has been "sick" for months. Although, there has been no identification of anything actually wrong with him (he has always been prone to hypochondria), he has presented himself at the ER and various clinics numerous times. Now, creditors are calling me, trying to track him down and collect the thousands of dollars that he owes.

It is not possible to express how grateful I am to not be legally attached to this mess.

The only sadness I feel here is for the puppy.

I hope you are providing the creditors with any/all information possible to track him down. But, I'm a bitch like that.

It sounds like he has driven his life into a brick wall. I'd venture to guess that the thieves were someone he knows and they knew he's be gone. One doesn't just clear out a home, including he food from the cabinets, in the few minutes that most thieves take to rob a place.

Divorced - recovered and hoping to help.

I feel sorry for the puppy too.

Not sure who robbed him, but he chose a larger house in a riskier neighborhood so he could more easily store his expensive toys. Yes...really. Drive your Mercedes back and forth through such a neighborhood on a consistent schedule and then leave and your "friends and neighbors" are bound to notice. Even better, he had his truck parked in the garage and they used it to go back and forth to haul the stuff, before stealing it, too. One of the neighbors said he saw it but thought it was a room mate moving out, since XH's truck was in use. Note the truck had only liability insurance.

Poor puppy (the actual dog... well now hell, that is just confusing... let's go with: the young canine)

Random thought... In Divorce and Separation we talk about the Karma Bus, and in New Beginnings a lot of us are riding "the bus". Coincidence? I think not! I mean all that psychic energy has to go somewhere, right?

Beep! Beep! Beep! Backing up the bus!

psychic energy

Yeah, that's not the kind of energy I always picture The Bus to be full of..
