I sent:

<Lawyer's name>,

Tomorrow will be 8 months since the trial ended, and it's been over 4 years since I filed.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable in asking for a progress report.

Is there something else I need to do?

Thanks,

<TH>

He answered:

Dear <TH>,

I received your e-mail. I took a copy of it in and showed it to Judge L*** this morning. She advised that she was trying to get some help from another Judge to cover her Docket so that she could get some of her paperwork out. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything.

Yours very truly,

<Lawyer's name>

I'm glad I am usually courteous in my written communications. I did not expect him to share with the Judge. I suspect he did it out of frustration, himself. A way to get her moving.

We'll see.

If there's one thing I've learned from this process, it's patience.

Oh, and if you inherit real estate, don't put your spouse's name on the deed. So that's 2 things.

Take care of yourself. There's a great future out there. It won't come to you; you have to go to it.

That is unreal on the timing. How can you really move on when that's still hanging over your head?

Are you waiting for some sort of ruling, or do you at least know how things are going to turn out (I'm guessing not since it was a trial) and you're just waiting for the finality of it?

This is just blowing my mind. From D-Day to my divorce being final was a little over 5 months and I thought that was too long.

Sending you speedy divorce thoughts!

I was upset because mine took an extra month and a half due to a paperwork error. Four years of that hell?
