The Mackinac bridge spans the straits of Mackinaw and connects the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. For the last few days it has been shrouded in fog for most of the day. Today it's looking beautiful as ever. The ice in the straits just broke up and moved out about 10 days ago.
My oldest son crossed yesterday on his way north. He's headed for the cabin to open it for the season. He was told that there is snow piled up 3 feet high in some places--mostly where it was plowed--but it could be quite an ordeal getting into where we were. I wish I was going with him.

Looks cold up there, how long do you guys normally have snow? Everything in southern NH has been gone for a few weeks now.

My family used to have a cottage about an hour north of the bridge. My brother and I used to fight over who got to sit on the side of the car where you could look out the window and see through the grates while we drove over the bridge.

I live about 45 miles south of the Mackinaw Bridge, but on the Lake Michigan side. We had 123 inches of snow this year, which is average for us, but not something we've had in the last few years. For those of us who love the snow, it was terrific! Great skiing, snow shoeing, and cross country skiing.
Last year, I crossed the bridge on the day that the ice was breaking up.Such a great sight!
WG-the snow should be gone by now. I hope your son has a great weekend.
