After reviewing my phone records I came to the hard realization that the majority of my WS and OW's sexting and communication were either A. while I was bathing and getting the kids ready for bed or B. while laying in bed next to me while I slept. After DDay I tried staying up later to hang out with him because one of the gChats I read between them was about how I go to bed to early, like an old lady pretty much. But now that we are well on our way to R, I have serious insomnia. No matter how good of a day we've had I still stay up all night, well after he has gone to bed panicking about what happens while I'm asleep. I guess I could say that going to sleep is a trigger for me. :( I've been to the Doc and got medicine for my back that makes me pass out, but I hate drugs. I tried taking zquill but my mind fights it. I feel tired when I take it but the anxiety over powers it. I dont know what else to do besides go to the doc and get on real sleep meds. Does anyone else have such an extreme trigger? One that overpowers you every single day? I don't know how long this will last, but Im hoping its not forever :(

I tried lots of natural sleep aids but none of them worked, even when I did go to sleep I would wake during the night and my mind would be racing.

My doc prescribed a mild AD with a sleep additive, it was the only thing that worked. It helped me drift off to sleep and stop the mind movies and the racing thoughts all the time. I was also given a hypnosis cd that I had to listen too, once I got into bed. It helped me to drift off to sleep.

Maybe you need to go back to your normal routine. Even if you go to sleep earlier if he wants to cheat he will find a way to do it, no matter how much we try to stop them having the opportunity too.

R is hard work.

I had a bad experience with sleep aids a long time ago and refuse to try them again. I've suffered insomnia so bad since DDay that I think it's causing me other problems now too. For awhile I was only sleeping every other night....if you can call it that...it was more like passing out from exhaustion...and more than once now I've been up 3 days straight! I didn't even think that was possible!

I wish I had some advice for you but I don't, sorry. I'm mostly posting here because I'm very interested in any tips and responses you get as well! Good luck

I have had insomnia most of my life. When I get stressed, I can't eat and can't sleep. It was crazy bad after dday. I try to avoid anything addictive, seeing as I am a recovering addict. I tried Melatonin, a natural sleep aide. That and some benedryl (slowly lowering the dose and WILL be off that soon!). It works wonders for me most nights. I still have some nights where the insomnia kicks in but for the most part it helps.
