One month ago today, I sat in an oral surgeon's office while he told me that the spot he'd removed from my tongue two weeks earlier was cancer.
Luckily, he removed it ALL in the biopsy surgery, so no additional treatment is needed at this point- just a lot of monitoring for the next 5 years.
That morning before I left the house, I smoked a cigarette. My last one.
I left his office and haven't smoked a cigarette since. I've been using an e-cig and it's working really well. Not to say that there aren't times when I wish I could just go back to my old way of doing things- but then again, the old way of doing things gave me cancer. So... nah.
I never thought I'd EVER be able to do this, and here I am, doing it.
Just wanted to share :)

That is awesome I quit almost 4 years ago and I am still amazed I was able to do it. But just remember you are through the hard part they say if you can make it past a week you are done with withdrawls. The cravings may still be there but ignore them.
The only advice I would give you is to start a diet/exercise program I didn't and have gained 40lbs that I have found almost impossible to get off. So congrats this is such a big deal. Rejoyce in it. And remember one day at a time.

Congratulations Eranda (and Panic)!
Thinking of making the leap off of the smoking wagon soon myself. I need to. I want to be around for my grandchildren. Sharing your story has edged me a little closer. Thank you.

Congrats!
I picked up an E-cig kit 22 days ago and haven't touched tobacco since.

I can highly recommend an e-cig to anyone trying to quit unsuccessfully with other methods.
While it't not exactly the same- and there is a learning curve that is longer/harder than advertising would lead you to believe- it is SO worth it.
Once you get over the "it's not exactly like a real cigarette" feelings, you start to enjoy vaping for what it IS- MUCH better flavors available, no smell, no ashes, no having to go outside in the dead of winter or the pouring rain, and did I mention no smell??
My house smells good for the first time in a LONG time. I can vape in the car with the windows closed. No burn marks on anything. No worries about burn marks on anything.
But most of all, it's essentially guilt-free. I'm not hurting or bothering myself or anyone else. Both my docs recommended it to me, and told me that if I use an e-cig I am medically a non-smoker.
One word of advice- if you buy an e-cig at the gas station or at wal-mart and it doesn't work for you- don't give up, try another kind. There are literally dozens and dozens of options- keep trying until you find the combination of battery, cartomizer/clearomizer/tank and e-liquid that works for YOU. Everyone is different and needs differnt things in order to quit. Don't be afraid to experiment.
Keep trying and you WILL make it.
