The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom is one of the best books I have read in a while. It's based in the times of slavery. It's about a white servant girl from Ireland who is sent to a plantation in the south where she is brought up by a slave family. She eventually makes it to live in the "big house" where she lives with an abusive husband. Very riveting story.

Wow, thanks for sharing, love books like that, was looking for a good read.
I am finishing an inspirational book - called "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz
it's excellent and a quick read.

Thanks for the recommendation Letitout. I really enjoyed the book and was sorry it ended.
