On Wednesday, I asked XH when he was going to be able to give me his half of the deposit money so that I can register J for preschool in the fall. I was previously told that I wasn't going to get any because he couldn't afford it, and he reiterated that on Wednesday night. I basically said "I don't really understand why you can't afford $67 a week, but that's fine, I'll just take you back to court".
Fast forward to this morning, and I get a text from him basically apologizing out the wazoo saying that he thought I was looking for more money than what it really is, and he'll have half of the deposit to me at drop-off on Sunday and the other half at the end of next week. I was glad that I was sitting down. Of course, it's not a done deal until he gives me the money, and does it regularly, but still. Typically when he says he's going to give me money he does - and even if he doesn't, I can just have his wages garnished further.
We then carried on a somewhat pleasant conversation about J, which is a huge switch to how he usually is with me on "his weekends". Maybe we've turned a corner and we'll be able to co-parent effectively? I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched, but I can hope!

Well, yes - don't count the chickens, - but you can enjoy looking at the eggs

No counting chickens.... and eggs might not hatch... but talking is good .. him agreeing is even better.

He gave me what he agreed to give me yesterday! I'll have the rest on Friday. I'm flabbergasted. Still not counting the chickens, but happy with the small victory!
