This is a dating site for people over 50. I thought that maybe it weed out those looking for people much younger. Maybe those on this site are not just looking to hook up? Any opinions?
I am just thinking of sticking my toe in the water...OMG this is scary!

ALL of the OLD dating sites I tried, including Our Time, only either had people looking for one night stands, or very needy guys looking to settle down after the first date. Real creepy stuff.
I know some people had had luck with OLD. I only got young guys, married guys, guys with no jobs or lives, and felons. I gave up.

My experience with OurTime has only been lackluster. There is a lot of activity since the site makes it ultra easy for people to send flirts, send brief notes liking your picture etc. I get dozens of those a day...from people many, many miles away from me...it doesn't "mean" anything and it is kind of a pain. I don't respond to anyone who doesn't send a message along with a flirt. That said, I've met a couple of nice guys and had a couple of nice dates with guys from the site, but there is a lot of stuff to sift through!
Also be careful about your account...there are a couple of extra steps if you don't want to automatically renew (I didn't know the steps...grrr)
I've had better experiences with Match or POF than I have with OurTime.
Dipping your toes in the dating pool is scary, but you can do it!
