Math puzzles anyone?

I am by no means good at math but do enjoy a good riddle or puzzle.

I have come across the following and I am stumped. Anyone want to give it a try?

In order to open the box on an app game, I have to fill in the stars. It's a pyramid:

168

12 14

* 2 *

* 2 1 *

So I am assuming its a multiplication problem since 12 x 14 = 168

The next line: _ x 2 x _ = 168?

Last line: _ x 2 x 1 _ = 168?

If I click on the stars it goes from 0 - 9

After the kids and wh went to bed I spent an hour trying to figure this out.

I suck at math, so you've been warned.

Could it be that because 12x14=168 the next line should be

x*2=12 and 2*x=14

so x would be 6 and 7.

Then the last line, possibly 3 2 1 7?

So anyone else have any good math puzzles to share?

If it worked I'm going to email my high school algebra teacher and let her know that I wasn't a hopeless case.

You were right!!!!' woohoo. Thank you so much!

Of course the next level is a lot harder. Must complete more tasks and each door now takes multiple keys or combinations to open. Ugh! What have I got myself into

I ha a puzzle book when I was a kid that ad tons of math and other puzzles. Wish I still had it! One math problem was using all 5's to complete the equations.

It's called Can You Escape

You're in a room. In order to get the door open you have to figure out the clues and find items to help you.

The math puzzle was one puzzle in order to open a box. Inside was an item I needed.

I'm now at a level where the first room is linked to two other rooms with clues and puzzles lol.

I basically suck at math. I'm somewhat dyslexic (not really the true issue but close enough) in that I transpose stuff all the time and have total brain farts where I cannot remember basic math functions (like the whole multiplication table) so anyway, I need props like a calculator, or minimally a piece of paper (seriously I cannot do even simple math in my head)

I like killer sudoku. Look up killersudokuonline

I made an excel file that I use to help me solve these puzzles so I can keep track of the various constraints on the possible values in each cell.

I also do the greater-than sudoko puzzles on that site, I'm very good at looking at patterns.

I have never gotten into sudoku. Perhaps because my mil had tons of sudoku books all over the house.

I usually stay away from math related puzzles. Hopefully this game sticks more to the other types of puzzles lol

I should have read the description lol. It only goes to level 8.

I searched the App store and found others similar. One is 100 levels but it's over 50 Mb so I need a Wifi connection to download.

I love having to searh the room for clues and solve puzzles.

I was briefly addicted to that game after reading this thread last night. Now I'm done the 8 levels and I think I'm in withdrawal.

Oh ya I am too. I wanted to continue playing so bad lol. Must find a similar game that doesn't take a wifi signal to download.
