How might I be able to look at a Craigslist page that has expired? Or can I? Would Google cache work?

It very well might. It's certainly worth a shot.
What's this about? If it's off-limits for Off Topic, you can PM. Maybe I can find some way to help you.

How do I access Google cache? I read various "how to" pages but they are all far above my ability to understand, too much technospeak.

Whenever I've seen it, I've simply Googled a page and the cached page link comes up beside the regular link. You may be out of luck because the most recent cached page may not be in the time frame you're looking for, or CL may have requested that their pages not be cached.
