I've decided that I'm going to apply to do a BA in photography, part-time starting next year.

I'm nervous and excited as I have two young children and I will get into so much debt.

But, this time my aim is to get a good job when I finish my degree.

I love photography and have been a keen amateur for over 10 years now so I figured why not do it as a job and get paid for it, it's a big dream that I'm going to turn into reality!

It's funny what having your life turned upside can do to you. The last time I decided to do a degree was a few months after my mum died tragically and I loved studying then.

I want to be an amazing mother to my children and show them that hard work does pay off.

I like everything about this post except the debt part.

Others will come along with advice, but I'd be vary careful when thinking about this. It is not fun being saddled with student loans and trying to raise a family.

It can be very fulfilling but you might want to postpone it for a bit. Hang out your shingle as a freelancer and try it on for size, see how it works to get paid for taking photos. There is a lot of competition out there from what I understand...

I've been working on a humanities degree off and on for 20 (!) years because work and other more practical schooling kept getting in the way.

Right now I work part time in a union position, and the union benefits cover my tuition which is a very sweet deal.

I hope to have an MA by the time I hit retirement age.
