Anyone else enjoy this series?

I just finished the first two books. Now I'm looking forward to the final book Allegiant being released this month, and the movie adaptation of Divergent being released next spring.

It's another trilogy of dystopian books, much like Hunger Games but without the love triangle.

LOVED Divergent and Insurgent!!! Can't wait for the movies or for the 3rd book to come out. I like it better than Hunger Games.

If you like YA dystopian fiction, there are lots of good authors in this genre.

I loved divergent, Insurgent was good but didn't match divergent. I am definitely looking forward to Allegiant.

I really enjoyed the Hunger Games trilogy too.

I also LOVE Tamora Pierce, but hers are not at all dystopian. Or even in this realm or reality

Ahhhh, more recommendations! My reading ADD is bad enough as it is I pick up a book, start reading, another gets recommended or becomes available at the library, I think I'm reading 4 books right now These are great because I could get through them before becoming distracted with another. Maybe I should just stick to YA and dystopian!

Abby, I prefer this series to Hunger Games as well, but I did the audio books on that one so it is hard for me to be objective.

Sadcat, I also like the first book more, but enjoyed the set-up for the finale at the conclusion of the second.

Oh yeah read it yesterday. Not. Happy.

Ok I get the plot reasoning...but the 2 voices were poorly done- often I couldn't tell whose POV it was.

Just grrrrrrr.....

Sad- I didn't like the alternating POVs either. Additionally, the book felt rushed. The antagonist kept changing. Four as a character became weak, snivelling and unsure of himself.

But I was super mad about the ending. It was all so useless. What were they even striving for? Love? Tris and Four didn't even really get to fully realize their love. Love between Tris and Caleb? When prior to this he delivered her to her death?

Meta- maybe she'll like it. But I doubt it. How old is she?

This trilogy popped up in my "you may be interested" list and I remember seeing the names on this thread.

They've been added to my wishlist.

I loved Hunger Games, am a fan of Harry Potter etc. I love books and if you can tell me a good story and keep my interest, I'll read it!

abby she is 16. She read them last Christmas so she was 15. I'll be interested to hear her take on it. She's a pretty critical reader

Allegiant felt rush, like Veronica couldn't wait to be done with Tris & Four once a for all. Of the series, Insurgent was my favorite which was odd since I tend to hate book 2 of most trilogies. If I was 16, I would probably be sad due to the lack of happily ever after but a reader of dystopian will actually expect & respect it for what it's...over

Finished. Not sure how I feel about the ending. I think it was....appropriate somehow. The voices confused me at first until I got in the habit of checking the chapter title to see who was talking.

Over all I give the book a thumbs up.

I read them - but wasn't enthralled. They were okay. Maybe too much teenager angst for my tastes...? I definitely preferred The Hunger Games.

I agree with the confusion about the dual POV's - (though why it was necessary becomes clear) but I felt as if both characters had the same inner"voice". And then Tris' insecurity/death wish in the second book was recycled on to Tobias in the 3rd book. Meh...

Finally read the last one. Agree that the multiple points of view were confusing and didn’t add anything to the story. I would have preferred each character getting a chapter at the end to show different perspectives of the outcome. Hoping it comes across better in film.

I finished all three as well.

Wow. I did not like the third one. It felt like a quickie to tie up loose ends.
