Hi SI,

One year ago tomorrow, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, I found out that my SO of 4.5 years was 'dating' somebody else. This, when I had talked to him about my doubts about our relationship, he had begged me to 'be patient', I got hoovered back in ... and then bam.

I couldn't believe how devastated I felt. How I questioned my memories, my sense of reality of the whole relationship. Y'know, everything we all go through.

Well, it's been a year. And I have survived IC and lots of self care and ... yep ... time !

Oh and also I found out this morning that I passed my national boards. I am now a nationally board certified teacher by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). I get a $5K/year raise (I believe starting in January). As a single parent with a kid in college and one soon to be in college, boy, do I need it !!

Thanks for being there, SI. Looking forward to upgrading when I get my raise and pondering my name change.

Thank you so much for the positive comments!

I am mostly a lurker but I have learned SO much from all of you. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, humor, trials and tribulations, your successes and failures. I think SI is a very special corner of the Internet.

Many, many times I would lie down and read SI on my phone, trying to get the moxie to keep going. I learned my feelings were normal, that my SO bore the responsibility for his decisions, and especially to focus on ME and self-care.

I especially related to FF's deciding to focus on *her* life rather than another relationship. I read Shellybean's single mom struggles and soooo sympathized. Tesla's kick ass attitude made me laugh and inspired me.

And the guys here -- do you know how much I want to believe that strong, faithful, loving, REAL men exist??? Do you know that it is a comfort to know you ARE out there, even if it seems more likely I will run into a unicorn before I meet someone like you? Stronger08, wonderingbull, bigger, abbondad, allatsea, and all the others whose names escape me ... Thank you for the example you set.

I am grateful for all I have received here. I will try to post more, even if it's a "what she / he said!"
