I'm so mad right now. I took a new position at my place of employment. The new position has more responsibility, I have to deal with other federal agencies and I my current staff is going to increase by 100% within the next 12 months. I just found out today that my promotion, that was to come with the new job, was denied without details. WTF!! I'm working my a@@ off creating a cohesive document control system for these people and on top of that I'm paying out more money to commute to my new office. I was promised a promotion and now I'm getting nothing...I'm actually losing money now! I can't even go back to my old position because it was divided up among 6 individuals when I left (they all got more money because of it). I'm so mad at myself!!!!!

You were replace by 6 people and denied a promotion you were promised? If they cannot provide a valid reason why this happened and cannot fix the situation in a reasonable time, then I would suggest you blow the dust off your resume and start networking. Even if the situation gets better, get your contacts in place and see what is available. It never hurts to look and see what is out there.

gahurts,
I dusted off my resume a while ago and my employers found out and freaked out about possibly "losing such a hard worker" so "let's see what we can do for you", hence the non-promotion. I work for a government agency and I'm in the not so unusual quandary of a lot of gov't workers. I have amazing benefits (so far), I'm vested and don't have enough years in to quit without financial penalty. Believe me, I've looked into it. I had to do the unthinkable and borrow money from my retirement account to pay the bills after my FWH took off with a large chunk of our money, so if I leave before paying this off I would have another financial hit. Just typing this out is depressing as hell.
My Manager asked me to give him a week to see what he can do for me. I'm not going to hold me breath but I will try to think positively.
My FWH is trying to get a better paying job, so when that happens I will have more options.
