I'm searching out furniture for my new vacation place. Discovered a liquidator this weekend. Scored two fabulous solid mahogany end tables for $75 each. And three upholstered benches (for extra seating on the deck) for $40 each. Lamps (including shades) for $10 each. A gorgeous framed print of a Toronto landmark for $10. A small pine table I plan to use as TV stand in the media room--priced at $35. Total score!!!!!! They are currently liquidating the rejects from the refurbishing of a major Toronto hotel. Big deals on lovely occasional chairs, armoires, and framed prints whose frames alone are worth hundreds of dollars, but are selling for $10-$20. I think I'm going back there.

Another score. Not far from the new country house there's an estate liquidator. Got a lovely solid cherry bedroom set for $585, including tax. And an almost matching TV console for $35. My (I thought, unrealistic)budget for furnishing the new place was $10,000 exclusive of new appliances. (I won't buy used appliances; too much chance of inheriting someone else's problems!)I searched and found a warehouse store that has amazing prices on brand name appliances. I might just come in under budget! S/O calls me a "machine"!
