My C drive on my computer is 100% full. I don't know how it got that way. I have defragmented and had the computer check for files that I can delete to make space but I am still 100% full.
Does anyone know of files that MUST be kept or can be deleted? I would love any suggestions.
I'm getting so annoyed I am getting more and more tempted to wipe my hard drive clean and start over.
Me: BW (in my 40's) Him: ExWH EA/PA with MOW coworker(also married). He ended up marrying his mistress.

Get an external drive and move files like photos and music over to that. You can get a large external hard drive or even a flash/USB drive, depending on how much you have to move.

download ccleaner and let it clean up all those temporary files. Best thing it's free.

I don't have any music or photos/videos on my c drive. The drive that has those on it has even more space on it!
I tried the ccleaner.... It suggested I remove my Microsoft office and other important programs. Also my mcafee protection said it was trying to send me a Trojan virus.
Are there any other possible options?

Have you emptied your recycle bin? When you delete files they actually are not deleted, they go into the recycle bin.

I have emptied my recycle bin. I some how have duplicates of some program files but I can't delete them. It says I don't have the authority even though I AM the administrator.
How can I tell which updates of Java, Adobe reader, etc I need to keep for the program to function? Would it be best to just delete all of them and reinstall?

Your best bet is to delete all except the latest version. If you cannot tell what is the latest version then just go ahead and delete them all. Most website that use these will detect that it is not installed and then direct you to a place to download it. Or you can always google it.

You can download a free program like SequioaView (it's small... not sure if you can run it from a flash drive), which gives you a graphical representation of how the space on your computer is used up. It'll scan the drive you choose and all different files types will be displayed as colored squares... like music is one color, temp files another, the OS another, etc.
I've used it many times at work and like it very much. It's a quick way to look over your system and decide what you need to get rid of.
