I recently went for a case conference and my stbx offered me a lump sum instead of paying spousal every month. It worked out to about 5 years worth. It was very tempting as he has already dropped his income 12,000. in the last year since he left and plans on dropping it another 25,000. come spring. I think that it will always be a problem and he will always bring me back to court to have it lowered. I'm thinking I should ask for the house but Im not sure what to do. Has anyone ever had to worry about their ex getting the spousal amount changed? He just can't stand the fact that he has to pay child support never mind spousal support.
