I tend to have a memory of an elephant for traumatic things.
I will forget a phone number,or a name. But DDay, catching the lies..... I remember when, where and what everyone was wearing to what was in TV!!
a few days ago was DDay/antiversary date and the thought NEVER ONCE entered my mind that day. In fact we had an amazing week. What was I doing on antiversary date this month?? Making love, snuggling and spending an awesome day.
I remembered like 4 days after and was like "omg I totally forgot! And why the hell do I want to remember anyway!?"
I did not bring this up to H. He is BEYOND over that. The thing I appreciate more than the fact that he's the man I married and more now? The fact that he's let me know that he will never forget what he did but it's all with shameful and remorseful feelings if an obvious trigger happens. Some BS want the WS to forget it all. The fact that a WS can't forget how bad they hurt their spouse is a good sign of great progress.

Imagine a ship trying to set sail while towing an anchor. Cutting free is not a gift to the anchor. You must release that burden, not because the anchor is worthy, but because the ship is.
