I was away on Canada Day (July 1)with no internet access. I had a Red and White Desserts and Drinks party on my patio to meet my neigbours near my new country house. About 14 people showed up. Here's what they had (along with beer, wine and G'n'Ts):
Strawberries dipped in white chocolate. I picked the berries myself early in the morning and they were superlative.
Homemade light lemon cheesecake. I forgot to take a photo of the homemade sour cherry topping!
Almond raspberry tart with creme fraiche (not shown), all homemade:
I think I made some new friends!!!!

Sorry, MOO!
Dixie, weedpickers are always welcome. I'd need some warning before I can produce desserts. The creme fraiche needs a couple of days to ferment!

I'm SURE you did. Can I be one of them?? I love making cheesecakes but never made a lemon one. Everything looks delicious. I know why the photos only show small amounts! Lucky you took them before everything was gone.

Great cake, TR! I don't eat cake made with white flour, though.

Thanks for the compliments, all. SMY, maybe I can rustle up a strawberry cheesecake!(Though strawberry season will soon be over.) Thebighurt, a lemon cheesecake is simply one that has some lemon juice and a lot of lemon zest added--and yes, it is incredibly yummy. I don't like cakes that are all white flour, so I try to make desserts that are made with nut flours or cheesecakes. I also don't like graham cracker crusts, so I conjure up a base that will fit the cheesecake or tart--ginger snap/spice crust for pumpkin cheesecakes, chocolate and ground hazelnuts for chocolate hazelnut cheesecake, almond sponge base for the raspberry tart, that sort of thing. Once you know the ratio of dry ingredients to butter etc., it's easy to do custom bases/crusts.

lynnm, I'm trying to eat healthy. After seeing this thread yesterday, I bought cheesecake, strawberries, blueberries, and low fat redi whip.

I'm so sorry, jo2love! Mea culpa! The strawberries and blueberries are healthy.

They totally counteract the cheesecake, right?
You have some very lucky neighbors.

Ha ha. Of course, they do! Everyone knows that! Lowers the glycemic index. (Actually they probably DO.)
I'm not sure if the neighbours love me or hate me now. Depends on their laundry detergent! The strawberries were bursting with juicy ripeness and the chocolate was hardened. Every bite released cascades of juice and practically everyone (including me) ended up with an evidence stain. Didn't stop 10 people from devouring 45 dipped berries!

Jo2love, the strawberries are soooo easy to make. Melt chocolate, dip berries, set on plastic wrap or waxed paper. Refrigerate. Yet they look as is you've slaved! When it's not Canada Day, I would also melt some dark chocolate and drizzle it over the white chocolate. Didn't do that this time because I didn't want to ruin the red and white theme.
The raspberry tart is labour intensive because for the filling you have to cook down raspberries and sugar, press the whole shebang through a sieve (time consuming!) to remove all the seeds, then thicken. The base, though, can be baked weeks before and frozen till needed.
