Watching Shark Week right now. With all due respect to the shark(s), this is as close as I want to get. I'm not about to go into the environment of a creature whose entire body is geared to locating, tracking and catching its prey. I think they're magnificent animals but it kinda gives me the willies when they show the Polaris breach. Nothing that big should be able to jump that high that fast... just sayin'.

I would love to see a great white. From a boat. A really BIG boat.

Sadly, I'm missing most of it because of work, but I'm catching the older reruns during the day on Discovery. I understand the first night was awful (according to DS anyway). I watched Sharkfest on NatGeo because I couldn't find Discovery in my cable programming

TR, I watched Planet Earth when they showed a great white do the Polaris breach. They said they used a frame rate of 500 per second to see how fast it was. It was something like .5 seconds for this thing to fully breach at *least* its length, and hit the water and it was probably a 12 to 15 footer. Like I said, something that big should not be able to jump that high that fast. Of course that poor seal had little to no chance.

How about a closer look? Come on in, "Oh hell no" crowd

Relax, animal lovers, the shark was not injured.

The divers? Well they had to clean out their drysuits pretty well ...

Did you see how that diver had his/her hand outside the cage? Yikes.
