Please please get into counseling if you aren't already. I, too, live in a small town and see OW and WH all over together with my children.
Counseling is the only thing that saved my life...the OW in our lives are CRAZY.
I found basically free counseling at a spouse abuse shelter---as this is domestic violence what you are experiencing.
Good for you for telling your MIL!!!! I so regret dropping contact with her, because now the OW and my XH have told her all sorts of lies about me. I wish I would have kept the lines of communication open...
