Could I have picked the wrong health insurance?

We pay insanely high monthly premiums (Would equal $8000ish annual deductible for family), but only $20 for any office visit. ER/Surgical is $150.

Insurance is like gambling - and the crap thing is you're betting you WILL get sick.
