DD8's birthday party this year was a chocolate party. It was at a candy/cookie/chocolate shop. The kids got to make their own chocolate bars with all sorts of candy or even potato chips in it. Then they got to dip Rice Krispie treats, Oreos, marshmallows, and graham crackers. It was messy...and tasty....and by the time it was time for pizza, no one was hungry.

Let's not forget the immortal words of Tom T. Hall:

"I like chok’lit.

It makes me a jolly good fellow

I like chok’lit.

It helps me unwind and sometimes it makes me feel mellow (Makes him feel mellow)

Whiskey's too rough, champagne costs too much, vodka makes my mouth a faucet

This little refrain should help me explain as a matter of fact I like chok’lit

(He likes chok’lit)"

Dark chocolate, please and thank you. And I'll take it with or without additions.

Just be sure to have red wine at the ready for me, too.

milk chocolate has me wrapped around her little chocolate covered pinkie finger...It all started with my uncle who lives in Switzerland. He would send us boxes of Swiss chocolates for Christmas. He led me down the path. A path that is paved in milk chocolate.

Apparently unless its under lock and key NOTHING in my kitchen is safe from my kids. I am actually surprised they haven't found the Lindt.

I was expecting chocolate covered spiders.

I like chocolate, but I don't love it. As a kid, I actually disliked it, used to tell people I was allergic. (Ama was a liar as a kid, about more things than just chocolate, messed up little brat was I.)

I worked in a gourmet, family owned chocolate shop in the town where I grew up for three years in high school. One year spent sitting in a cubicle in a dim warehouse putting chocolates into those little brown crinkly papers and then putting arranging them in the box according to the map, and then sprinkling chocolate covered almonds on top to guarantee that the box had at least as much chocolate as it said (1 pound, 2 pounds, etc.)

And then two years working the front counter at the other location, selling choclate and mixed nuts and all the other candy we brought it (gummies and jellies and 21 colors of M&Ms). This was all unsupervised while going through puberty. I gained about 30 pounds.

At Christmas time, the only time of year I didn't work the counter alone, the other girls and I would flirt with the boys who worked at the Papa John's across the street, and they would give us free pizza and we gave them free chocolate. It was a terribly unethical system.

I think fudge is probably my favorite way to eat chocolate.

Oh, but you know what else I love? French Silk Pie. I make a mean french silk pie, and usually have leftover filling, which I then freeze in little 1/2c tupperwares. They freeze and thaw beautifully and make for the most perfect little treat of sweet, salty chocolate mousse.

Dark chocolate is my favorite - if it's really good, I don't need anything in it or on it.

I love York peppermint patties.

I love hot fudge sundaes.

I'm pretty good as I live alone and can make a bag of Dove dark chocolates last a least 3 weeks. All I need is one little bit after supper.

Of course, I put it away in the cabinet when the grandkids come - I'm not wasting my good chocolate on them - they will eat ANYTHING that is sweet!
