Myname, that's some amazing carvings. You've got some insane patience and talent. We were so inspired by your carvings we picked up 4 pumpkins to play with this year.
And broevil, your little shop of horrors plants are awesome! I would love to have those plants around the house.
Here is what I carved last year.

Thanks guys. It makes me feel so good knowing that you all like my pumpkins. I can't tell you how many times that pumpkin almost got chucked out the window. I started wanting to throw it before I even made the first cut.

I actually carved another one this year. It was for my brothers company. It was their logo, company name and slogan. (I can't post it because it's advertising and it's a local company and would give up my location). They loved it and wanted to pay me for it but I told them it wasn't necessary. So the CEO hired me to do some work at his house and then gave me a "hefty tip".
I got a lot of exposure for my landscaping company through it as well. So I was thinking that there is probably a market for that kind of thing with companies. It's something I may think about doing next year. I was also thinking of maybe doing a pumpkin for free for a company and just ask that they put a little sign saying that it was created by "Myname's Company" with my business cards. If it leads to one or two jobs it would be worth it. It may even lead to a "pumpkin carving job".
I was able to do things on this pumpkin that makes it so that if you can draw it I can probably carve it. It opens up so many possibilities.
lostmylight55, I can't carve like that at all. I hope you post some pics of whatever you carve this year.

Those are amazing!! There is an old fashioned candy store here that has the foam pumpkins all carved as decorations. They found a "professional" pumpkin carver to do them. She has cards displayed in the store with links to her website, where you can order a carved pumpkin...for several hundred dollars!!

Thanks for the kind words. I've carved foam, sculpted with clay and have done molds and castings before but that was my first attempt at working with a pumpkin like that. It's a lot harder and messier than I thought it would be.
Here's a site showing some incredible pumpkin sculpting.

The guy that created them is Ray Villafane. I can't post his actual site on here because he's selling stuff too. But he has some unbelievable work.
