Bond movies. Over 20 movies and they're better than ever (imho). Plus it's the only movies series that can claim Sean Connery. That automatically sets it apart.
t/j for a trivia question.
Which major role in a hit movie series did Sean Connery turn down?

LOTR makes me irritated but the Hobbit movies are an actual offense. There is nothing good about them at all.
With the exception of Resurrection, the all the Alien flicks were great. The new Star Treks are pretty good and I will accept being drummed out of nerddom for saying it, but the new Thor movie is ESB quality as sequels go. The Dark World was just fucking epic. I say that as somebody who first saw ESB at a drive in when he was 6 years old. So I guess the whole Avengers series of the new Marvel flicks is on top for me right now.

My BW loves LOTR and I think she told me once that Sean Connery turned down a role in Lord of the rings. I am not sure if that was a rumor or if it was true but that is my answer and I am sticking to it!!

Initially I liked the LOTR movies initially, but I just saw the 1st in the series (Fellowship) again, and it's pretty awful. It just doesn't hold up.
Glad I'm not alone.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!
You are correct. Sean Connery turned down the role of Gandalf because he didn't really see the potential. He realized that he underestimated how big the movies would be and because of that he took the role in The League of Distinguished Gentlemen.
