Then try on ten and do the rest another day. It's going to take some time and effort to learn about fabric, cut, and what looks best. No pain no gain, baby!!

The What Not to Wear folks had a book too that was useful.

sassy and karma do not go together

First of all, stop being self-defeating.

Get copies of More and O (Oprah's mag) to start with. Check out their suggestions for women in the 30-50 year old range. See if it's something you'd like to try, they cut out picture and make yourself a style book. A regular notebook will do.

Take it to Kohls, since you feel comfortable there, and look for things that fall into your desired range. Make sure you wear (or bring) the shoes and even undergarments you will wear with the clothes.

Don't be overly critical. If you start to feel that way, buy the stuff, take it home and try it on in your comfort zone. Kohls will take anything back, even if the tags are completely missing.

After you feel comfortable looking in Kohls, branch out to other stores. Start looking at other magazines, but be aware, most cater to a much younger crowd.

As far as having someone shop for you, there are 'personal shoppers'. I think Macys has them, so the other large department stores probably do too. You may even be able to find a freelancer. That would be ideal. Not beholden to the store.

This is the FUN part of losing weight, so have fun!

You are important and you matter. Your feelings matter. Your voice matters. Your story matters. Your life matters. Always.

something like this from Land's End may work for you. Finding something you are comfortable in is key. Both physically comfortable and mentally comfortable! Lands End has several styles that are not overly low cut or fussy AND have sleeves.

Keep it simple for now. There are a lot of knit dresses out there that are comfortable and look good with a colorful necklace and flats or sandals.

This is what I did, when I needed to find something to wear for an important event. I am clueless about clothes, didn't know where to start and was in despair. The personal shopper was brilliant! She asked me various questions on the phone and when I arrived for the appointment she had already found a number of suitable garments for me to try on. (I liked them all!) Not only did she find me something to wear which I felt really good in, but then quickly went and found me the perfect accessories, too. I couldn't believe how easy she made things. For anyone who, like me, dreads clothes shopping, I'd definitely second Sad in Az's suggestion!

I am gonna try this. Not having to shop and to have someone show me the ropes. At least initially, I think will really help!

I know, I still struggle with being positive about my body image .... I will try to be more aware of the negative talk.

I bought a few magazines last night. Hubby and I went through them....lets just say he will NOT be my personal shopper. Although he is very supportive and would say I look beautiful in a paper sack, I cannot wear the things he likes, yet.

Yeah, I need to learn how to match shoes and other things with the outfits. I envy people that understand how things go together.

I could pick out a million things I like, but nothing ever matches. The look on my daughter's face when I try is priceless.

The What Not to Wear folks had a book too that was useful.

I actually used to watch, maybe someone should submit me to the show lol...I am a prime candidate.

I would, but the show ended last year.

If you are willing to spend money, a personal shopper would be very fun.
