Wow, what an amazing journey! I just read a memoior of someone who did the PCT. So inspiring!

Please tell him to move away from the edge of that rock, though! Oy!

I talked to him tonight - and yes I told him he was way too close to the edge! They are doing a *flip flop* of the trail - they are skipping over a portion and heading up to ME from VT. This way they can take their time and don't have to worry about getting to ME before the park closes for the winter in October. They will then continue south to capture the parts of the trail that they are skipping now.

He shared a story of *Trail Angel Mary* who gave them a place to stay for a couple of nights and fed them well. In return she asked that they pick the raspberries for her. The obliged and were off - with hearts full of gratitude and bellies full of food.

Got this pic today - He has 590 miles to go to complete the trail. He will be ending in VA/PA (not sure which) as they did that *flip flop* thing. His goal is to take his last step on the trail on Nov 3 - his birthday. He's the guy in the middle

Totally incredible journey! You must be so proud of him. It takes an incredible amount of drive to complete a task like this!

How did he get up on that sign?

Well hopefully something besides a 4,000 ft fall!

As for how he got up on the sign... well he has been climbing the hills of the trail for 6mos so the sign was probably a non-event.

Good grief - he may never finish this trip! Just got a call from him. His former employer has been involved with litigation for 6+ years. DS was instrumental in gathering all the facts and writing the reports. He, of course, needs to testify as to the integrity of the data - Trial date is Oct 27. Which means he now has to get back home and be ready to testify during the week, or longer!

His boss is sending one of the guys to pick him up, so getting home and then back to the trail isn't a huge issue - but geez after 6 yrs of monkeying around, they can't postpone the trial for another month until he finishes the trip. Can ya not say "Sorry, our witness is unavailable in the wilderness until after Thanksgiving".

Good news I'll get to see him and his two scraggly buddies he picked up on the trail for a week or so. So I guess there is a silver lining. And what also dictates another *clean up*

Oh and because this is a photo journey:

How Awesome! I live close to the trail in VA. I love picking up the "stinkies" (said lovingly) and taking them into Front Royal for lunch.

Your son will have a great story to tell for the rest of his life!
