I don't think Gale was emotionally unavailable, to me Katniss was the emotionally unavailable. At the very beginning Gale asks her to runaway with him and pretty much to start a family and she said it was impossible and that she'll never have kids.

So I'm still Team Gale, (I managed to stay firm in my decision by not reading Mokingjay )

Also girls of America, while it's cool your interest in archery has increased by like 3000%, you are entirely fucking up my plans for baby_v's full ride archery scholarship. Golf is too expensive and fencing isn't a solo event. Please have stopped doing this by say 2022.

It nagged him, in particular, that none of the girls he’d known so far had given him a sense of unalloyed triumph.

Another YA series that is great if you liked the Hunger Games is the Scott Westerfield Uglies series. Very good, strong female lead, dystopia sort of deal. I read it a couple of years ago to preapprove for my niece and was quite impressed. His new Leviathan series is a great alternate history sort of thing.

I agree that the books had more detail than the movies, but for me, it's just a different art form. If they had included all the detail it would have been a 12 hr made for TV movie! And it is probably best to read the book prior to seeing the movie.

I do agree that the bread scene was not handled properly in the movie...unless one had read the books it wasn't really clear. All in all I did really like the movie. The emotions of kids killing kids was more horrific to me than any of the killing scenes.

Amusingly, I had never had an interest in reading them....I got the idea that it was another Twilight and I am just so over vampires. But while visiting my grandkids, the 11 y/o GD got me to read it and 6 days later I had read all three. Great reads, all of them....

Loved Hunger Games. Try Divergent next; it is in a similar vein and the second book in its trilogy comes out May 1st. I liked it too.
