In my business...when all the electronics are turned on for the first time on an airplane -- it is known as the "Smoke Test"

Not funny....but I am humbled by the knowledge that I walked the same sidewalks as he did, sat in the same lecture halls he did, took the same classes he did....and quite likely had some of the same professors --- we were on the campus 30 years apart...and some of my professors were quite old

It is a known fact that all electronic circuits only work because of the magic smoke which is carefully contained in the tiny components mounted on the circuit boards.
Which is why I had the discussion today with an auto mechanic about "Oh, no! You let the smoke out!"
Once the smoke is let out, it no longer works.
I build radio transmitters and receivers as a hobby. We also refer to that initial power-up as the smoke test.
Take care of yourself. There's a great future out there. It won't come to you; you have to go to it.
